Requesting a new PTS color for Feasibility Testing - Arrow Blue
Hello Folks. Eduardo asked if I would post my experience of the PTS feasibility testing process. I have been hammering him with PTS emails for the past year. Haha. Earlier this year I requested the feasibility testing of a new color on 991 body to be completed in time for the PTS 991.2 GT3 allocations.
The color that was requested and approved is the beautiful hue of Arrow Blue.
Quick Story:
I honestly didn't know much about Arrow Blue until I saw Footsoldier's PTS 918 Spyder. After a few PMs to him, I realized that his decision had a similar rationale to mine. I fell in love with Voodoo Blue on the 997 RS 4.0, and was interested in ordering it on my GT4. Needless to say, I was declined PTS on my car. Ugh. Moving on I focused on the 991.2 GT3, but like Footsoldier I really wanted a similar historic color to portray the heritage of Porsche. Arrow Blue is one of the closest to Voodoo. After FS gave me his story of his personal PTS adventure on his 911R, I was determined to see what Porsche could do to get Arrow Blue added to the PTS list. Disclaimer: Ultimately I did not get a PTS allocation, but my good friend was successful. I ended up consulting him on his build to create a one of a kind Arrow Blue GT3, of which I'll post about in late March
I started by stalking my PEC contacts. The Exclusive team at PEC was awesome at aiding me with the request.
Email to Porsche Exclusive (Atlanta) in March of 2017:
Exclusive's reply:
At this point I'm excited, yet nervous about the proposed timing...then I get this heart dropper in June.
At this point I got a bit sad to be honest, because I knew the PTS window was coming up quickly. To my joy, I received this email from PEC on July 20th.
Success! I was ecstatic to hear this news. The next step was a consultation with Porsche Exclusive in Atlanta. At the end of the day, Arrow Blue is now a PTS option on the 991 body.
Thanks to Eduardo and Footsoldier for the direction and idea, respectively. I also have to give a shout out to Jon and Michael at PEC for making this happen! Grade A folks!
I can't wait to show the car we built. Over the past few months I've been to PEC 3 times and have built a relationship with the good folks over there. Feasibility testing can be nerve racking, but all I can say it START EARLY. Let's bring back some of the epic colors of the past.

Following up on today's discussion, this is my official PTS request letter. I am interested in purchasing the upcoming 991.2 911 GT3, and I'd like to personalize the body color in Porsche's heritage "Arrow Blue" paint color. The only modern Porsche I am aware of that is painted in ArrowBlue is a 918 located in the UK. You stated that Arrow Blue is currently not on the approved PTS list for the 911, nor has anyone requested it.
Please accept this email as my request for Porsche to conduct quality testing of the "Arrow Blue" paint on the 911 body for addition to the approved PTS list, which ultimately I will request on my 991.2 GT3 pending allocation approval.
To eliminate any confusion, I have added a link to the Arrow Blue 918 referenced earlier in this letter. http://918-spyder-registry.fast-auto.fr/2015/07/21/537/

It was a pleasure speaking to you over the phone today. As noted, I have sent the request to our German colleagues to begin testing the color Arrow Blue (305) for feasibility on 911 models. Do note that testing can take up to a maximum of 9 months but feel free to follow up if you would like a status update. I will let you know once I hear back otherwise.....
We have received an update from our German colleague that testing of Arrow Blue is still ongoing. It's taking a little longer than planned due to unforeseen circumstances and an answer is expected approximately 3 months from now.
just as a backup, I would recommend keeping a second color in mind in case there is a need to urgently place the order.

We were just informed this morning that Arrow Blue had been approved for PTS.
Let's schedule a call when convenient discuss next steps.

Nice work. Awesome color. We need to do the same for Aga Blue and Ossi Blue, but I don't have the patience. Thinking about blindly ordering Navy Blue in the hope that it will look like Aga.

Thank you for sharing! So sorry to hear you didn't personally end up getting a PTS allocation this round either especially putting in the work to get Arrow Blue added. This PTS system is like nothing else.

Thanks for sharing and the effort. I'm going to request Arrow Blue on the next GT car that I get. I'm still happy that I have a Golf Blue GT3 coming in.

A for effort, but yet another demonstration of the PTS program's stupidity...
