Like Mooty, I have mostly have scraped the lip on my 997RS and GT4 at speed - instances where the lift does not come into play. My drive way is no problem.
Don't want to spend $2600 for added weight and complexity and then still have to replace the $300 lip when I scrape it.

The driving 1mph at a 45 degree angle over stuff gets old fast. Anything that reduces that is good. I don’t care about the scrapes.

I did not need it on my 2011 GT3 RS Gen.1 but found when selling the car that more than half the potential buyers put the phone down when I told them it was not on the car. I got it on my 991 RS .

No accessory on the .2 GT3 is an absolute must have.
Having stated that, the underside brake and aero ducting on the .2 GT3 is significantly different to previous GT3's. IMO, the likelihood of scraping the bottom is significantly higher.
As you're able to spec your car, I'd get it.

Apologies if this is a silly question, but I have a 991.1 GTS and have never had an issue with scraping on the front, even when driving in Boston. Is the GT3 front lip noticeably lower?

I have yet to scrape in my 991.2 GTS, but my 991.1 GT3 scraped everywhere. Huge difference.

Necessary is a strong word but I'm glad I got it. Wasn't an option on GT4 and I tore that lip up, so I decided then that I would get the lift if I ever got the GT3. I did, and have no regrets.

I guess I'm checking the front-axle lift box. Thanks for the info!

Same here, if you use the car, you're going to get caught out at some point, lift or not.
Bigger problem now is the rear diffuser, which is much harder to protect.

Thanks all. I guess I'm in also, sounds like no harm, and I'm a believer in having it and not needing it, as opposed to needing it and not having it.

While I am patiently waiting to hear if I get an allocation, I have been trying to decide my spec. I've been on the fence regarding the FAL. As research I checked the distance between ground and spoiler lip (at the dealer, with tape measure). On the GT3.2 (in normal position) it was 11cm. On my 981 CGTS with X73 chassi (lowest possible on a Cayman) it is 14cm. This is a little concerning since I have already scraped the CGTS one or two times on the speed bumps on the road to our house. But this was on me since I maybe drove a little too fast. At around 15-20km/h over the bump it is no problem. So in addition to the answers in this thread, I am now adding the FAL. Here in Sweden it is ~$2500 and in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal. (although it would have paid at least a part of the PPF... )

It depends on what your going to do with the car. I didn’t order it on my RS, but I only use it for track days so I don’t miss it. My GT3s are driven around town, trips, etc...I never know what terrain will await me, so I get the FAL as a precaution. I’ve already used it many times on my GT3.2 and glad I have it.

For the guys ordering it for the next guy: you've got to make sure you're getting an extra $2,590.00+tax from the next guy over a non-lifter equipped car in order to justify that.

A cheaper car will be easier to resell. And for every five second-hand buyers that have to have the lifter, there's another five guys who have no idea what the lifter is, and maybe even one guy who specifically doesn't want the lifter. Most people buying these cars are shopping nationwide so finding that one buyer shouldn't be a problem.

Does your 991.2 GTS have SPASM ?

[QUOTE=Gesler;14694144]It is less likely to scrape than a GT4 as the angle at the front is more forgiving. The GT4 scrapes on my driveway unless I drive at an angle and slowly. Haven't had this issue with the GT3. If that gives you a reference, you can decide.

The other concern is if using the lift will decrease the clearance at the rear.
As already pointed, if there is a chance you will sell ithe car at some point, better to get it.
What’s the measurement from bottom of splitter to ground? GT4 is 4.75”. Thanks!
