Yeah, like downtown. Its a must-have me now, especially to come in and out of the highrise parking garage...

It is less likely to scrape than a GT4 as the angle at the front is more forgiving. The GT4 scrapes on my driveway unless I drive at an angle and slowly. Haven't had this issue with the GT3. If that gives you a reference, you can decide.

The other concern is if using the lift will decrease the clearance at the rear.
As already pointed, if there is a chance you will sell ithe car at some point, better to get it.

Not correct. Every time I scrape in the parking lot I wish it had been ordered on my car. Parking garages and the steep entrance and exits are a problem for me. Tried to go after market but hate to mess with my originality. If I ever build another one this will be the first add on.

It will be unnecessary 99% of the time, and absolutely necessary 1% of the time. The law of large numbers (i.e. miles driven) would suggest you would come up to situations where you wished you had it, or suffer the repercussions (some can be as 'cheap' as needing a new plastic trim piece upon scraping).

And given on this board many ppl are concerned what is the eventual next buyer gonna look for, it seems most second-hand owners have a strong preference for cars with the lift...

It's not on my order as I can enter and exit my driveway fine without it. It helps on resale but I hate ordering stuff for the next guy, so I passed. Don't have it on my GT4 and my front plastic is fine so there......

If the car is to be your daily driver then maybe yeah get it. But for me it's a weekend car so I can be selective with gas stations, etc.

Must have, at least where I live. The 15 pound weight penalty is negligible and almost 4 years into ownership, while the money I spent on the lift is long forgotten, it is still used literally every time I drive the car.

Exactly my thoughts. This car is a good amount of coin already, so that extra $2k is negligible in the grand scheme of things (at least that's what I told myself lol)

Default lift

Live on Long Island which is flat but use it every time I pull into a gas station or most friends driveways. Would recommend 100%

Necessary, no.

Nice to have, yes.

Nice to have the piece of mind when pulling in and out of driveway or approaching a speedbump.

Best Regards,
Dave

Default Front Axle Lift is Life

I have it, it's a must. The nose sticks out more than you think, angle approach works half the time.

I have a 991.1 C4s and a 991.2 GT3. The C4S doesnt scrap much. However the GT3 does scrap a lot, specially if you are not using the lift.
Both cars will survive the odd scrapping here and there. But with the GT3 without the lift, the scapping would be really much and annoying for me specially on speed bumps and ramps.
I think it is needed, particularly for the sake of having the feeling of being able to do something to reduce that terrible sound.
I would spec it again.

Ditto.
After 3 years with the .1 I never had a problem if I angled my entry to or from a driveway. I had the FAL in my '14 and used it just a handful of times to get acquainted with it.

Better to have and not need, than need and not have.
