Rear seat on GT3 T?
i found this sentence on the top gear review of the gt3T : “”Need a refresher? There are no rear seats, although you can add them back in at no extra cost.””
any comments? I though no rear seats are allowed on GT cars
is is a copy paste from a carrera T post?

Is it possible to have the Dealer refit rear seats at a cost?

I do think that is the one item Porsche misses with the new GT3 Touring... allow the rear seat added back in for a $1,000... would make more sense due to the 'understated' exterior, imo.

I doubt a dealer would do it, but I am sure you could get rear seats used and have someone weld in the mounts. I am shocked no one has done it yet to be honest. If I had kids, I would not hesitate and would do it myself, but I don’t want the rear seats as their absence leaves more room for groceries.

As for custom fitting them, there was a recent thread where this was done to death. The fact that there is no evidence of this ever having been done on a 991 GT3 probably tells you all you need to know about the practicality/cost/safety/liability of doing this.

The rear seat area reinforcement/metal support is absent in the GT3, any attempts to retrofit is unsafe, imho.
997.1 GT3 was the last iteration that seats could be safely installed, as I understand it.

I'm beginning to think that's true. Plus the GT3 suspension, plus the GT3 mystique. Mystique goes away, though, when you take away the wing and try to add rear seats. Why not just get the Twin Turbo? Designed and built as a luxury sports car with a Porsche soul. There was a time this was the ultimate 911, and for some, still is.

1) Turbo is much more expensive. Really $50k more expensive to get the Turbo S.
2) Obviously Turbo is heavier, AWD.
3) As said above, only way to get that engine is with a GT3. This is probably the biggest one behind price.
4) Sort of along the lines of #1, Somehow with the base Turbo you can spend $160k+ and still look like you cheaped out. There is no GT3 S. The GT3RS requires some sacrifice so the GT3 stands alone.
5) To many buyers this is just a car, no mystique.
6) Adding rear seats or deleting the wing doesn't really make this a "luxury" car. GT3 is already a luxury car.
7) Probably 2nd biggest reason, people know spending on a Turbo with options is just throwing money down the drain. Depreciation on these is staggering.
