Default Cancel 991.2 GT3 to keep 991.1?

I am thinking of canceling my 991.2 order, now that the 991.1 has the 10yr/120. I initially ordered because of concerns of engine longevity. But now thanks to Robmypro and COG my engine concerns are gone. My current car is already set up for the track. I can't justify taking a loss on 991.1 just to set it up a 991.2 again. Crazy?

Nothing about our hobby is logical. Why confuse the issue with the facts?

Here are a few reasons, better engine, better PDK, more mid-range torque, better aero, better chassis/suspension tuning, allegedly better steering response, improved PCM (if you care about that)...overall an improvement in just about every area. I wouldn't call the value under original MSRP, that you will get on your .1 a loss (after all you drove and enjoyed the car), instead I would call it simple user-based depreciation. It's not really a loss, unless you were expecting to get your original MSRP back, after 3 yrs, on a car you've driven and tracked! Cancel your 991.2 order if you want, that's fine but do it because you don't think the improvements from the .1 to the .2 are worth upgrading (i.e., wait to see what the 992 GT3 offers) and not over some theoretical "loss". Hint: most of the parts and track items on your .1 would probably bolt right onto the .2, (e.g., roll cage, rotors etc) minimizing additional costs of track set-up. You're not crazy however, if I were in your shoes, with a guaranteed 991.2 GT3 allocation, I would keep it.

What happens to your 4 old year car if a PDK failure causes the Engine to blow? Do they still cover the engine under the warranty extension or not? How do you feel about taking that warranty claim risk of blaming an item outside warranty and denying the claim?

This. Precisely.

A friend of mine had a similar dilemma. Spent over $15K on track prep for his .1. Got a .2 allocation about the same time he got the Porsche letter courtesy of robymypro's efforts on the .1. Agonized over the choices, just like you. We asked him how he would feel if the .2's started passing him on the track, they are just that much better. He traded in his .1, and his newly delivered .2 is getting track prepped.

^Thanks^ for the perspective. I go back and forth on the decision daily. I know it's a better car. I don't want to give away the 991.1 that now has a longer warranty than the 991.2 I would be upgrading to.

Get the 4.0l as a daily driver.
Convert the 3.8l to a track-only machine. Full cage, fire system, the works.
Best of both worlds.

If you have a confirmed .2 GT3 allocation @ MSRP, I would definitely upgrade personally

If you are going to stress and play dealer games or negotiate ADMs for a .2 allocation, I would stick with your .1 as it sounds like you are on the fence about it - the added stress and headache wouldn't be worth it when you have an already amazing car

now you are really in deep sh*t

this is RL
if you want to cancell a car order, you should check in groups like AA
we are enablers here.
i say order 991.2GT3 then augment it with 991.2RS
as far as the woman is concerned, get a newer model or tell her that she'''s lucky you have not replaced her.
