Default Rollcage in the .2 gt3 touring

Hi everyone.
im wondering if you can put a rollcage in the .2 gt3 touring.
I mean why wouldnt you, theyre supposed to be just alike besides the wing!?
great if someone could confirm that you definitely could mount a rollcage after delivery.
thanks everyone for a great forum!

Simple answer: Yes. But, you have to answer Billy's question, too. LOL

errr....the 964 RS (the Lightweight and the Touring) did not come with a roll cage. I should know. I have a 964 RS Lightweight. Only the super rare N/GT had a roll cage.

So yes, you need another reason to put a roll cage in new Touring.

@chris3963
damn, i did not know this. I did (as a passenger a freakin superfast) lap in a 964 rs a couple of years ago on the nordschleife and it had cage in the back ”lederhosen”, it looked very original, have no clue if it was ngt or not.
congrats to your rs.

I dunno, maybe he’s actually going to track his car? You do know cars without wings are allowed on track too, right?

My dealer confirmed we'll be able to put a cage in the touring no problem. I plan on putting one in mine.

^exactly. When did it become wing = track car and no wing = can’t track. Both are gt3’s after all and, as pointed out in stouts thread and other reviews, there’s virtually no difference between the two variants other than looks.

There is so little actual differentiation, that we make up rules to help define our preference or intended use. In reality, there is less difference between a base 911 & a gt3, than there is to the another model car.. except the 911 has been chopped up into 30-40? Different mini-niches. All are great track cars within a few percentage points of each other after some basic setup.

You guys are something else. But, I suppose it is somewhat entertaining to see us all jumping on one another.

Anyhow, one of the biggest reasons I've read and heard against the wing and getting the touring is that they do not want the racer look of the wing. So, it is somewhat incongruous to not want the racer look of the wing, but want to put in a rollcage in a touring. Might even look like an afterthought, or an incomplete thought at best. Sort of like putting on a tuxedo to look classy, then wear sneakers so you can play basketball. And yes, you can put in a roll cage, replace the seats with buckets, install a 6 point harness on a GT3 touring. Funny, maybe even look silly, but hey, that is just me.To each his own. If you are going go that route, might as well complete the look and optimize the function of a track car and get the wing. Forget the tuxedo wit the sneakers, wear proper sport clothes and not just look the part but also be the better athlete because of it.

so you are going to track a touring car so you need safety yet you didn’t get the wing. Very confused.

what are you confused about? Lots of people track cars without big wings. You think it’s a bad idea to add the additional safety of a roll cage just because the car doesn’t look a racer wannabe?

BTW, you guys know the Touring has a big wing that pops up at speed and provide a lot of rear downforce, right? I assume you’ve seen videos of GTS’ with a similar pop up wing lapping tracks just as fast as the Big Wing GT3, right?

There is also a button to make that wing pop up, even if the car is just rolling down the street. So, Archimedes, are you suggesting that the button be pushed so that the big wing stays up and look matched with the roll cage, and not look so confused to be a wingless GT3 yet have a roll cage?
