At some point wouldn't PAG look at the money that is being made by dealers and private re-sellers and want a piece of that? And increase capacity so they can sell more GT cars and increase their margins?

Ferrari built 8000 cars in 2016.....and every year they will build more....the business model has changed since Marchionne took over....

And as hard as it is to say this, even a $200k GT3 is priced competitively compared to the competition.

Let's assume dealers don't exist, and you can order your car direct from the configurator, with direct manufacturer delivery...

No adm looks like this:
Porsche dealerships are showrooms to show off all the different custom options. No real inventory- well maybe a few panameras Macans and cayennes for the drop in buyer.
Sports car buyers will get what they want. Customer walks in and is shown all the options. That person then orders the car of their choosing with up to all or none of the options available making a completely custom dream car according to their particular financial/lifestyle/purpose requirement. The price is set, just like when you order an apple product. No markup. Want a 4 place convertible with all wheel drive? Check. Need a gt3 Rs for the track? Check.
Once the order is placed the factory churns out a car and sends it to the dealership. Customer gets their car- all they have to do is wait for it. No wasted time making a bunch of cars nobody wants that the dealer can't sell but has to have on their lot. No trying to get on a list. No flipping the car to the next guy for more than you paid because the next guy can get the same car from the dealer for the same money you paid for it.
This method frees up capacity at the factory to build whatever is ordered because the factory isn't busy churning out a crapload of cars nobody wants.
How's that?
