Default How do I get my son in this car? Seat advice needed...

I'm fixing my configuration today.

I want my 6 year old son to enjoy this car as much as me. I can see two ways of doing that:

1) Choose CF Buckets, then retrofit the passenger seat with a 4-way
2) Choose 4-ways

If 1) isn't possible, then 2) has to be the answer for me.

I can imagine I'll have a bit of a time sourcing a 4-way passenger seat, but are there any other impediments? Will the side airbags still function? Any other limitations?

Any help appreciated.

My Son is 8 but I started taking him for rides when he was 6.

I believe the Porsche car seat will fit in the buckets

Thanks, Jimmy. No doubt he enjoys it!

From the configurator and everything I can read on here the booster can't be used with the CF buckets. Local law for me is 8 (or 49 inches) for no booster. We're a short-*** family, so that's a long time for him to wait

Thanks, Giuseppe! Well, that isn't exactly expensive!

Any concerns that you know of with side airbag interaction?

The airbag light was off (above rearview mirror) but Porsche prohibits children in the front seat, there is a long thread on the forum

That stance may have changed slightly, Giuseppe. As of now on the US configurator child seats are offered as an option, but with a specific warning for the CF buckets that child restraint systems should not be used. Cryptic, but enough to make me give pause.

Andy,

I use these. They fit into the buckets perfectly.

Hey, thanks Joe! We actually have one of these that we use for travel to Europe (not always possible to rent a car seat). I didn't even think about that as an option

So, you're a racer-type and mechanically-incluined... Any idea how challenging a 4-way seat swap would be?

Are you talking about the GT3?....There are no rear seats....no one is allowed in the back....not even close to being safe or legal

yeah Gt3 I was just wondering if that would even be possible and of course make it look like a rear seat in turbo models

Super easy. It's 4 t-55(?) bolts torqued to 37ftlb, the seat belt bolt 17mm, and one wiring harness. Electronics should be compatible between seats.

this. Use in my gt3rs and lfa. Shuts air bags off. Wont scratch anything due to being all fabric as well. Key is to slide the seat all the way back. Its said to Be safest positioning
