Found a few more. Added Jbarnes to the mint car, beauty. Whoever bought the Arena red from Hoehn, congrats. And congrats to maineman for his oak green from North Olmstead.

Default Wheel Rub - Wobble 991.2

Moving out of dealership / Service Dept / Parking lots / Tight driveways, I'm getting a fair amount of wheel rub and sometimes the front wheels wobble significantly. The last wobble was really nerve wracking and prompted me to write this post.
For the most part this only happens when the LIFT is activated. But the lift needs to be active in many situations, at least where I have had the car recently.
What are others experiencing? Is some wheel rub and the strange wobble normal?

Taken on my recent trip to Lake Garda (Italy), this view of the rear 3/4 is one of my favs. Shows off the timeless 911 profile. The black third light surround, black mesh and black PORSCHE work so well together.
But you know what, once you drive these cars it wouldn't matter what it looked like! Such a special driving experience. And to do ED in the car thru Austria and into Italy - what an experience!

Yes, I noticed some unusual sounds and vibrations only when lifted on mine too - could have been wheel rub. I can't say it's normal - just that mine also did it and it seemed like something might have been wrong with it. Let me know what you discover, and I'll do the same. Would be good to see if others are hearing rubbing noises and feeling vibrations when raised.

Relax. It's normal and is known as the Ackerman effect or colloquially called "acorns". Look it up. Happens on a lot of cars including all my GT cars and my AMG GTR which is the worst of all. BTW, on the GT3 it's worse in reverse when on full lock.

Nope. No "R" for reverse.

+1, normal. Was really bad on my GT4 in low temps (below 7C) and in fact now that the (summer) tires are getting worn on my Macan Turbo (265s/21s up front), I get that a lot as well. Even freaked one of my passengers when I pulled out of the driveway with a sharp right on reverse. Feels something is about to snap or break, but no ill effects.

First time hearing about this. What's the short-version explanation?

I hope I am explaining this correctly. What is happening is whichever direction you are turning the wheel, one wheel is turning at a more pronounced angle. If you turn the wheel RIGHT the front left and front right wheels are going to have different angle though they are both pointed the same direction, that is your Ackerman. Ackerman differs car to car too, making setup for every car different.

If you YouTube this topic you will see several videos that illustrate what is going on. It looks like most cars have a front suspension set up that mostly eliminates the Akerman / Acorn wobble effect you get when one front wheel is rotating at a different rate than the other. Porsche, especially on their most performance orientated cars, say '"give me the Akerman/Acorn wobble for better high speed steering." At least that's my take on it from YouTube. You have probably seen luxury cars making a full lock turn and the inner wheel is leaning - tilted way out there (crazy positive camber) compared to the outer front wheel. That is to compensate for the Akerman effect. Our cars do not make the inner wheel tilt (very positive camber) nearly as much. Anyway, this is what I could gather from some YouTube videos. The reason it's normal is only because Porsche didn't design the front suspension to eliminate the Akerman effect.

Its been a while between posts. Too long dealing with life, but thought to share a throw back pic from a recent Targa over here. Great times. Partner ended up with bruise on out thigh after day two bracing her legs on the buckets in the corners..
