Default On the road in California ... hitting 8.5k rpm limit?

Started a 1,000 mole roadtrip to hit three national parks Friday morning... Sequoia, Death Valley and Yosemite. At second stop now, will cross the Sierras on Monday via Tioga Pass. :-D Today’s route and some pics attached. HW 155 East towards Lake Isabella in this car is a dream, as is HW 190 into Death Valley. Although I must admit that I had hoped for my 18 way sofas to be more comfortable ... 5 hrs into the drive my back did start hurting.

Question: I hit the rev limiter at 8,500 rpm today, twice. Second gear. About 1,800 miles on the car, no sports mode etc engageged at the time. Came as a surprise ... thus I repeated a bit later to be sure I didn’t imagine it — but happened again the second time. Anyone else experience this? Should be rev’ing to 9k? Thx for any tips!

A couple people mentioned having a similar problem with an early rev limiter and one said it was fixed by a speed sensor replacement under warranty. There is another thread on it I just can’t find it, but it is very recent.
