As stated previously the percentage of cars experiencing this specific failure is very low. And I don't think Porsche was able to reproduce this problem until recently. In their defense, once they were able to reproduce the issue, they stepped up and did more than we asked them to do. Of course, everyone involved wishes this problem didn't occur. But it did occur, and at that point all Porsche can do is make things right. And I think the overwhelming opinion is that they did just that. As an owner, I know I am very happy with this. If this problem had never occurred my engine warranty would be up at the end of 2018. Now my engine is covered until December 2024. That is really huge, especially for a race engine.

The glass isn't half full. It is overflowing! In my opinion, of course!

^ I also they believe that they would not be extending this warranty if they thought they would have to replace every engine. Meaning-they must feel that the failure rate is very low

Received my letter two days ago, and was pleasantly surprised to read the surprising/extended content/contract.
Thanks again to the OP for seeing this matter through. I'm glad I forwarded my info to the OP. Strength in numbers!
As others have commented, I'm in no hurry to trade-up, just yet...
Best Regards & Happy Holidays,

Cheers,

B

+1

I'm going to drive my car without inhibition and rack up as many of those 120K miles as I can in the 10-year window. If the engine blows before the 10 years are done and I get a new engine, that would be great. If the engine has no issues during the 10 years, that's great too.

Christmas came early this year.

This makes no sense, litigation from what? Failed engines were replaced, cars were bought back from owners. You want compensation for hurt feelings?
The end of the day a car company gave a 10 year warranty on a race car.

Guys, I added a post (now a sticky) with a title that will be easier to spot for new members. It is closed, but links to the main COG thread.
