Like Whoopsy said, behind the greenhouse there is a low pressure area cause of the air flow separation causing turbulent flow vs the side where the fenders holes are right in the flow. The only better place I can think of besides fender would be on the top of the roof ala GT1.
The wing on the GT3 would make it even worse cause of the low pressure area under the wing which should suck air away from the intakes.
