Too many examples to assure profitable flipping, particularly given the high base price, exclusive of any initial dealer gouging.

That could be a problem. If no one wants it, then no one will want it. "Must have it and I don't care how much I pay for it" only works if everyone wants it.

Found this from Porsche Warrington Instagram. Sets forth the details of the heritage package.

That clearly is the psychology of ADM. The scenario you describe may not play out for the first 1000, but there is a distinct possibility for the following 948. Porsche was supposed to build 1500 CGTs but stopped at around 1200 due to slow sales. The 918 VIP program wasn’t created because the cars were in such high demand.

well, lets run some numbers; for arguments sake, say there are 1,000 points of failure, and we are adding another 5.

Are the benefits worth the 0.5% increase?

dunno, just sayin

If folks are passing on these cars - how soon will they be offered at MSRP or below... if ever?

Feeling like there are so many special edition P cars. Oversaturated marketing strategy.

I'm pretty sure I could have bought the 1 my dealer is getting. I told them I wasn't interested even at MSRP (especially when I found out the MSRP was $86k higher than my 3rs!) Just doesn't excite me much. I do want a convertible at some point, but think the Boxter Spyder that is coming will be good enough for that itch. If not, I would rather have a 720s Spyder. Not a collector I guess.

And no, that's also not how VIP program works (those who are still in it know that well, and those who are out of it now know exactly why that happened also).
When I say flip, I'm talking about after their 1-year required hold period. So some VIPs may feel that the car won't hold a premium to MSRP a year after they take ownership.

Tulip mania this is not which is why I'm still here. The early GT3 Threads resembled the GT4 threads which frankly with all due respect became a hall of mirrors here with exchange value trumping use value, and value itself becoming a topic of concern here in RL and that's where I bowed out of a GT3 allocation. I hate crowded rooms so the idea that 918 owners are saying no is actually a good sign for me, maybe us simpletons have a choice.... The other thing that has me perplexed is why is there so much interest in the next Spyder....when there are still like new 981 units on the market for msrp or below? I personally don't think people are cross shopping a spyder and a speedster? I don't see them as interchangeable, but that is me.
