The MSRP of the 911R sounds like a real bargain now compared to this latest and shiny toy.

Maybe can justify a base specification...depends on if you really want a “limited edition” piece and have the environment to drive and enjoy. Personally, I would drive it and want to keep long term as my “special car”. That being said, if my objective was to simply have fun until the next best thing is available, it would be Boxster Spyder all day long.

What is on display behind the car they revealed? Another Speedster? I snipped and zoomed a press photo...

The unique styling points that are missing is disappointing and so is the inflated MSRP but it’s still an epic car. Do you think the 992 Speedster will be naturally aspirated, 9k rev limiter and manual transmission? This is a special car for the 1948 that can justify its price. I just wish we could’ve seen a bit more creativity in its design features.

But the 2011 Speedster only had the Carrera engine; this one has the GT3/RS engine.

Hopefully the heritage edition with unique mirrors and wheels. Is there a press event scheduled for sometime today?

No central fuel filler and no round mirrors are disappointing but I can understand. But wtf happened to those gorgeous Fuchs style wheels of the concept heritage edition?

the red version looks so much better. the fuchs wheels made the retro design, doesn't look good with these stock GT3 wheels. Not like it will matter since Porsche will never give me one!

I got a call from my dealer last week. I’m 4th in line for the speedster and they are only getting two allocations. I’d be gutted if it was a bit closer to the concept. But without the additional special details and at that price I’m not particularly bothered.

Motor is new. Expect in 992 GT3. I’m told more responsive than my R. Spyder coming soon.

Can you elaborate on the engine?

The concept car had an "outlaw" thing going on IMHO; it looked almost bespoke. This production model seems more Herbie the love bug Edition than "outlaw"-bespoke which drew my attention in the first place. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous car, but I'm disappointed a bit. I would like to know whose idea was it to value engineer those details out of the production model? Hope it was worth the extra bucks.
