991.1 vs 991.2 GT3
I haven't seen much discussion in this forum about how the .1 and .2 GT3 compare. Would love to hear more from people who've owned both. What are the main differences, and how big are the differences?
I finally saw two examples of the .2 today. To my eye, the .1 looks better, though I don't doubt that the .2 is a better car overall.

I have a manual and that in itself is a game changer. Exhaust sounds a little louder. More torque everywhere in the rpm range.. The combination of 4 liter and 9000 redline is amazing. 991.2 also has way better infotainment system, It has Apple Car Play, but the Porsche interface is so good I don't even like using Apple Car Play. Bose is new and a welcome addition. Amazing car.

The 4.0 is a special car for various reasons, very low production numbers, Metzger engine and all. In terms of driving, the new GT3’s engine is smoother and clutch is softer and the handling less demanding. For pure driving, the new one is much better. For collectibility, of course the 4.0.

ive owned all 3 lol. for me at regular, street driving sessions, they dont differ at all between .1PDK vs .2PDK. this is one of the reasons why i went hunting for a manual instead. Manual .2 is wonderful to drive.

agreed, 991.1 front bumper looks way better to me as well.
i think even with the PDK its a pretty good deal, especially where prices are headed on them.

To my eyes the .1 is a prettier car. More low key. More stylish. Not a fan on the black scoops or the slightly reworked front of the .2. But...that is because I like it more low key. If you like bold and racy looking, the .2 kills it. It is a badass car. The 4.0 has more torque and the manual is just right. But I prefer the PDK and I already have more power than I need on the street. Way more. If I want more, headers here I come. Throw in the long engine warranty and the .1 is the easy choice, again for ME. But if I had to have the latest and greatest, and didn;t mind spending $50-$75k more, why not get the .2? But it doesn't make sense to me. Not when a set of headers equalizes things. It really comes down to the manual, as others have said. If you need the manual, the choice really becomes 991.2 GT3 or 997 RS. I probably take the 997 RS, just because I like the looks of the 997 RS better. But that 997 RS clutch. Dear God lol.
But there is no wrong answer. Both the 991.1 and .2 are fabulous cars for different reasons. And they fill all the needs of the different groups now.
