I'd like a manual .2 with a .1 body. Wait, didn't Porsche make a car like that?...

LOL...please stop it with the looks comparisons! With the exception of the black air intakes on the rear decklid of the .2, 99% of non-Porschefiles wouldn't be able to tell the two cars apart.

IMO the 991.1 is "prettier", but I don't like the mustache-like LEDs on the front bumper....

AP himself said the 991.2 GT3 design is more masculine (up to you to interpret that), I could do without the black bits on the .2. I do like the .2's front lip (seems to protrude out less than the .1 which I like), door handles, & LED taillights better.

Both are amazing cars and amazing designs, the 991.1 GT3 when released is what really catapulted the car to the top of my wishlist, during that .1 run the timing wasn't right for me to be able to get one new.

At the end of the day I'm happy I was able to get a .2 and it worked out in the end....because I really, really wanted a rear camera for this car lol

I haven't driven a 991.2 GT3 but, regardless, I prefer the 991.1 mainly because I already own one, it's paid for, and I suspect it would cost me $50-60K or more to move into a 991.2. Given that the 991.1 GT3 already has far more performance potential than I can use 95% of the time the incremental increase in performance with the 991.2 is irrelevant. Also, I may be in the minority, but I think that PDKS is the best match for the GT3 so I'm not tempted by the manual gearbox. Now, if you offered me a 991.2 as a direct trade for my 991.1 I'd accept it in an instant for obvious reasons. But taking everything into consideration, the 991.1 wins the comparison. Just another way of looking at the question....

The biggest thing of interest to me with the GT3 was the manual. The 4.0L engine is just whipped cream on top of the sundae.

Both awesome cars. Looks wise I prefer the .1 front end but agree on them being 99% same. The 4.0 engine is great but in my view it is not worth the price of admission even with a 6 speed. .1 is a bargain specially with 120k mile warranty. I'm happy with my decision in getting a .1 instead of going nuts trying to find a .2.

WOT I can't tell a big difference between the two cars, straight line. The biggest change between my two cars, both PDK, is the throttle mapping and PDK tuning. The .2 is quicker to downshift and get the car moving. The throttle mapping is more aggressive. The .1 car always felt like there needed to be a setting between PDK-S and normal mode. Normal mode felt like the mapping target was to get the car to 7th gear as quickly as possible and stay in that gear unless you're over 50% throttle. PDK-S seemed like it wants to hold in the lowest gear possible all the time, for obvious reasons. The .2 car seems to be a good marriage between the two; exactly what the .1 would benefit from the most.

I love the .2 car but I'd be just as happy in a .1. In fact, I am looking to acquire a nice CPO .1 for a track toy over my .2.

Personally I think the 991.2 GT3 is at least as fast as the 991.1RS. If history repeats itself, faster.

I'd love to see it.

I don't want to be a smartass or showoff but let me leave this here for someone to confirm.

Of course there are cheater mods...
19" Forgelines, Hoosier R7, 911GT3.2 diffuser, side muffler delete and Autoquest test and tube setup.

My car is 3220lbs after mods, with a 260lb driver.

Congratulations on accomplishing your way to having both. Two best modern 911's.

I really don’t care what the non-Porschefiles think, but to my eyes they are very different after seeing them side-by-side. The key differences are:

1. The black air intakes.
2. The rear taillights.
3. The new front with the black aero and redesigned turn signals.
4. The black lower part of side mirrors.
5. The redesigned lower rear bumper.
6. The air grill that is now integrated into the back of the wing.
7. The height of the wing and aoa.
8. Dropping the gloss black wheels for flat black.
9. The black tips on the wing.
10. The stripe on the seat.

In my opinion all of these are a step back from the .1. Not saying the .2 is ugly, but Porsche nailed the looks perfectly on the .1. If i had any input on the .2 i have just done two things. First, keep the slightly redesigned front air intakes, but without the black bits or redesigned turn signals. Second, i would have redesigned the rear intakes to be similar to the 997 RS 4.0, of course painted to match the rest of the car. Slap the 4.0 on the wing and call it a day.

I agree with you Rob and have often thought that the .1 looks should be the updated look (minus the tail lights) and not the other way around. I still like both cars and would have no problem having either one. Anyway, it's just another opinion don't flame me for it LOL
