991.2 GT3 Highway drone EVO magazine

No drone on mine at 70mph... or specifically no drone on mine where it's annoying and can't talk/hear radio. It doesn't bother me at all and I always toggle PSE on as soon as I start the car.

Even my Macan GTS drones like a MF'er at highway speeds with PSE on. So too did my old 991.1 GT3.
Cruising in the GT3 is very pleasant with Bose noise cancelling ear buds, all the best noises without road and tire roar, and music you can actually hear- what a concept!

The road noise etc is definitely there but it’s a gt3. I would hope buyers would know it’s noisier in many ways.
That “noise” is desirable to me though. And the bose is good enough for when I feel like music. Hasn’t really happened yet.

Just picked mine up last week and went for a 600km drive on highways and secondary roads. I'm coming from a 991.1S and I didn't notice any exhaust drone at highway speeds. Obviously the car is louder in general then the 911S but this MUST be expected - its not suppose to be a touring car. I can't believe anyone would complain about the exhaust sound - unless that it could be louder... Some of what people are calling drone noise may also be coming from the tires. If you're doing lots of street driving put some PS4's on for the road and keep a second set of tires (R7's) for the track.

Had the drone, found the fix!
My 991.2 GT3 has the drone when I picked it up. Must admit it was pretty dang annoying between 70-77mph on the 600mile road trip home.
Turns out there was actually a problem! The driver’s side vacuum line wasn’t connected to the solenoid that opens and shuts the valve! This was causing that valve to stay open 100% of the time.
After fixing, no more drone!
Cheers,
Kevin

I had my vacuum lines plugged and neatly tied away to keep valves open all the time. Much preferred in my opinion.

Under load, acceleration, or cruising under the valve transition, the engine sound is perfect.

But - I do not disagree that if you are cruising over 4000 rpms it can get a little bit annoying after time. Hence, why I do not DD her. Just a weekend get-away car

Just picked up my GT3 Touring 2 weeks ago, and had the exact same problem as kbGT. Driver's side vacuum line was disconnected from the actuator. Hose clamps on both sides were not crimped correctly, although passenger side stayed connected. Drone was pretty severe at highway speeds - 2 hour drive gave me a headache and ringing ears. Even worse, when winding it up it was just shouting, not singing, even had the dash buzzing. Wondering if having one side actuated kicked up a bad resonance? After plugging it back in, all better, and now it sounds like the sweet B6 I was expecting. I'm new on reenlist, was super helpful to solve my issue - thanks kbGT!
