991.2 GT3 manual launch control

That's basically how it works, but the ECU holds revs at around 5,000 rpm at the start and then meters out the power as much as possible without inducing wheelspin. So, it should give better acceleration than just dropping clutch without engaging launch control (and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a lot closer than 0.5 sec to 60mph to the PDK-S, as the Porsche specs claim).
I hope someone will report back their results so I don't have to abuse my car

It's not abuse if it's a feature. I use to launch my 997.2 GT3 all the time. This is normal stuff. The 997 GT2 was the first Porsche to have launch control. This is nothing new.

I'd also be curious to see what the dashboard g-meter registers for forward longitudinal acceleration. I did launch control recently in Germany with a loaner 991.2 Turbo and think it was 1.27g. In some ways the launch control of the 991.2 GT3 (PDK-S) felt even more violent at the start (better tires or immediacy of NA?).
EDIT: Found a pic (recorded in one session on a particular one-way German road)

i actually wonder if the magazines know about this, and knew to test with it, rather than burning up clutches trying to modulate the launch manually.

I did this at the PEC in a manual Cayman S and also in my own GT4. The key is to NOT modulate the throttle. As soon as you lift so the switch is not activated anymore, the rpms will go to redline.

Are there any official (or I guess unofficial since they would non-factory..) 0-60 times out there yet? I looked through Road & Track's write up and they used the factory numbers. I'm well aware it's a track car and 0-60 is irrelevant but I'm sure everyone of us with a GT car (or any P car for that matter) has somebody drag race us at a light. I know my reaction time with a non launch control take off can be a bit slow and even embarrassing off the line versus the autos... I usually don't participate but I'm thinking with the 991.2 one would want to prove a point.
