991R vs 991.2 GT3 Touring

Just go on a juice cleanse if you are a touring owner and call it good, the R owners luckily can continue to tuck into steak and lobster LOL

Ahh yes. The Porsche flippers from AMG. One wonders how many real buyers were unable to purchase a GT3 etc from a Porsche dealership, because AMG (etc.) inserted themselves into the process at some point ?
Actually, I don’t wonder. It’s rhetorical. If Porsche AG wanted to clean up their act with regard to flipping and ADM, they’d investigate every car that was siphoned throught these people and their dealerships.

Can we have somebody who has both the R and a GT3 Touring put their cars on a scale and then we can try to sort out an "apple with apple" comparison?
#263
This has been discussed elsewhere. Porsche's practice was to list the weights as specced with the lightest components so in the case of the Touring that would presumably already be with the PCCBs and LWBs. As you know this is all changing and the manufacturers will need to list these specs for every configuration going forward.
#264
Source on this? Porsche has always stated their weights in the cars lightest possible spec with all fluids and 90% full fuel tank. Sometimes this makes weight comparisons difficult as the fuel tank size may differ between markets (right and left hand driver cars) and it is then always the smallest possible fuel tank world-wide that counts.

I will assume you are correct ... there 1370 vs 1413 or 43 in difference ... as AC and radio is 20 therefore only 23 kegs in difference ... solution is lithium battery RS30 saves 34 lbs and SW bypass 16 lbs making to almost equal weight to offset SMFW and roof fender glass and bonnet ... equal weight GT3T should pull better with new engine map ... R will have advantage in shift feel

There are different standards for weight by county, so when quoting a figure or disagreeing with another helps to cite what standard was used (e.g. EU kerb, DIN, US curb, etc).
Good summary of the differences here:

We need more comparisons about how they drive relative to one another (from only those who have driven them both), since this is really the only thing that matters to most people. Yes?
Why aren't there more comparisons? Is the jury decided here... seems nobody who has driven both of these beauties is saying they prefer the GT3 Touring.
It's a real shame that Porsche held back on the Touring to preserve the status of 911R. They should have made the Touring the best driver's car possible. Full stop.
My hope is that Porsche is not done refining the holy trinity of N/A-Manual-Wingless! My further hope is that if/when something better is produced, it's not some bull**** limited production run.

No quite. There are certainly R owners that feel the control weighting is on the light side, preferring both the GT3's heavier steering weighting and more locked down chassis. Other's enjoy how is gets up on its toes and moves around. It comes down to both taste and usage. The R was aimed more at the street and the Touring was biased towards the track, but at the end of the day some like blonds over brunettes, others not so much.

He wasn't referring specifically to a Touring, but in his video review of the 991.2 GT3, Chris Harris says that he thinks the GT3's engine is "a lot, lot" better than the R's:
The whole video is a hoot, but he mentions the R at about 1:40. My current spec is for a GT3 Touring, but when I watch this video with the PDK-S, damn that's an amazing transmission!

I do not think more biased reviews are necessary. The only comparison I would like to hear about is an R and Touring with the same alignment specs, tires, and tire pressures.
