Default GT3 arrived! With no tempt tag?

Transport dropped the car off everything looked good but no temp tag to be found. Dealership hasn't gotten back to me a solution yet..... Is this my fault or dealers responsibility? Super hard not to drive it around right now.
😒.

I'd drive it anyway!! Pretty sure that it's the dealerships responsibility to provide the temp tag, unless the rules are different on an out of state purchase. You may be required to register the car yourself.

Gorgeous color, congrats!!

Dealer's fault. My out of state car came with temp plates. I called dealer to mention that i might not have time to go to DMV before expiration of those and they immediately Fedexed another plate with one more week expiration. All they need to do is issue a plate, or something equivalent, to you. And gorgeous car, congrats.

Were you expecting a CA dealer to provide you with NY temp tags? Maybe it is something they can facilitate, but unless it was discussed I certainly wouldn't expect it.

The only way to get CA temporary registration for a new car purchase is if you apply for CA plates...and pay CA sales tax. CA will issue non-residents a one-trip permit to drive a new car out of the state, but that's it.

NY (or whatever state you are registering it in) probably has a grace period for registering cars brought into the state.

Ya, no such thing of CA temp plates without paying CA tax. You should be able to get a NY temp tag or permanent tag, but it has been quite a while since I was in NY to know the exact process.

In PA I would just go to a tag place and I would have plates in 10minutes.

Typically, the selling dealer will collect the sales tax for the state where the vehicle will be registered and submit a title & registration application to the state where the vehicle will be registered.
Often they will use a local title service to handle it for them.
Unless you discussed otherwise, they should send you a temp tag. It's really not that hard in the age of the internet and instant gratification.

I've bought 7 cars out of state and the first 2 times the dealer collected sales tax for THEIR state and was told they would apply to Mass tax for a credit. I can sonly say the first 2 cars were a complete cluster f&@k when I went to register my vehicles.

After those I refused to pay any sales tax and tell the dealer I'll take care of it. Only way I'll buy the car. No dealer has given me an issue. Mass is also slightly different as they don't allow temp tags. As long as the car is insured, which we can do without plates for 7 days, no issues
