Default Barber on first weekend with new GT3?

So I arranged to have my GT4 taken on a trailer to Barber as a farewell track weekend before I trade it in for a MT GT3. I now get an update from my SA that car will be here even earlier than expected. While I could possibly wait and still bring GT4 in after it is brought back from Barber, I cannot wait to get my hands on the GT3. I love Barber and it would be a perfect introduction to my new toy. The folks from the shop who will carry my car suggest I just take the GT3 and don't rev above 4000. Not sure how much fun that would be... Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

I can’t imagine driving a GT3 on track without exceeding 4K, unless the track is snow packed...

I there any way you could do an accelerated break in on the road first?

Well, you got my point. I am not sure how I could be possible besides really riding around the track in a parade lap. They swear to me it is doable...

Oh, and I would have around a few days to drive it before I have to drop it off for loading. Will try to drive the world out of it but doubt would be more than few hundred miles

The cars at the Porsche Sport Driving School get delivered and head straight to the track.
You can buy one in Germany and take it from the showroom to the autobahn.

Or, you could drive the GT3 to the track & leave the trailer at home.

Put 500kms on it and you are good to go.

For the recent Masters PSDS at Spa, Porsche had to deliver a bunch of new GT3s to the track for rentals. The asked the Instructors to pick up some cars in Stuttgart and put 500kms on them by driving to the track. Then the next day, BOOM, 9,000 rpm around Spa.

Just wondering how early did your GT3 arrive relative to what you were originally told. There seem to be a lot of conflicting reports on cars being early and late. Thanks!

I thought GT Engines were broken in at the factory on the stand. My supposition was that the cars are good to go straight outta the box.

Thanks guys. Thats all I wanted to hear. Will put 300 miles on it and blast to 9000 at Barber!

Car was initially scheduled to arrive 11/24. Then 11/17. Dealer thought it would be early next week. Arrived today!

Stay 500RPM off the redline and don't do launch. You'll be fine! I had my previous GT3 on track at 75 miles at PBIR.

when I did ED a few years ago, I was told "take it easy for a few hundred miles just to be sure everything works as intended. Then let it rip." I have used that advice for all my Porsches and will when my new GT3 arrives soon.

Thanks, that's encouraging. My Touring is scheduled to arrive mid January. I'm hoping sometime over the holidays.
