The "surprise" is probably one of the following:

1 - Weissach Package; i'd be shocked if they DIDN'T offer WP on the RS (more profit, more market segmentation, etc.)

2 - 4.0L engine with redline > 9K RPM

3 - Manual option (maybe)
1 and 2 are a given, no? 3, maybe agreed.

Finally we will get a flat-8 with F1 piston speeds and superbike redline. Calling w/deposit today.

I'll take it like a man, I was. They tested both 3.8 and 4.0 and decided 4.0 relatively late. But, yes I was wrong. Whew...now I don't need therapy for this week!

Weissach seems obvious

If you've heard the race car you know it makes power through revs, not additional displacement

Manual - maybe

I don't have any surreptitious info, and I barely saw FSW at Petit

In 2nd / 3rd / 4th? Are you sure?

Redline shows as 8800 but videos show it shift earlier.

Nicest surprise would be that anyone who wants one can order one at MSRP. (And that's something Porsche could do if they wanted).

I think Clubsport/Weissach Package is the "surprise". Let's face it, it would be a surprise if they start offering the Clubsport pack as an option. I'm going to be pissed if this becomes an option for all GT3's as part of the next production run.....

I'd honestly be surprised to see MT, since they've already positioned marketing for the MT and said the RS is for the track. Plus they offer manual in all kinds of GT3 variants now for those who want one. I want a manual RS, but don't think it's coming. That said, I'm on a "list" for one, if it happens.

Where did this thing go? It was so incredibly interesting when it came out… I’m surprised that after this many years there’s been no commercial application at all

There were a "few" drawbacks.

Plus, I am fairly certain not too many customers would want one of those spinning inside the car—even in the front trunk.
