What PTS colors are most unique?

Would that make Ultra Violet be Thrombosis Hemorrhoid purple?

Not a 911 but here's a Grand Cherokee in Rosso Corsa.

for those that say it belongs on a Ferrari.

'Boardman Blue Metallic'...
Manhattan Motorcars still has this one for sale for $320k https://www.manhattanmotorcars.com/n...sive_ed-30870/...
I never heard of 'Boardman Blue' nor is it
on the approved PTS list of Porsche. Looks
like 'Mint' to me!
Apparently it is a matching Cayenne Turbo S!
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9518...otor-cars.html
What is it? 'Mint Green', 'Olympic Blue'?
Well, let's get this 'Boardman Blue' paint
color 'mystery' solved once & for all!
I took the liberty to contact Manhattan Motorcars
about this 'Boardman Blue' color & received this
very courteous reply from their sales manager,
Paul Dumont:
Good afternoon,
Boardman Blue Metallic was specially
developed for the two vehicles that
you referenced, and is outside of the
"standard" Paint to Sample process
and hence not listed. The paint is
made up of 4 layers including a
base coat, pearlescent effect, and
intermediate sanding between the
layers. As this special paint job is
applied by hand, additional costs
were included in CXX and only a
few cars can be accomplished every
year via this process. Hopefully this
answers your question!
Do you have any further questions
regarding the Boardman Blue cars?
The Cayenne Turbo S is already sold
and delivered, and the Turbo S Cab
is available, located here in my NYC
showroom. Please let me know if
you are in the market and I'll be
happy to assist you!
Best,
Paul

A 'metallic'...who would have guessed?
So if you want a fairly unusual & almost
unique PTS color (other than the Cayenne
Turbo S), this is pretty close to optimal!

This is the one thing about PTS that has me scratching my head. Reminds me of the classic Emporer Has No Clothes story. Just tell someone it’s the rarest PTS color and people will swoon and write huge checks. But it’s UGLY!
Has it occurred to anyone that the rarest PTS colors are that way because no one likes them?!

I've said this to other people about some cars. You'll see the listing "only 12 cars with this options in this color were made in this year"....yea, because nobody else wanted it.

to(o) bad it’s so UGLY!

With all due respect, Lapis, you have
little basis to make this declaration as
'fact'. You have never seen this color
in person. And the photos in their ad
might not accurately duplicate what the
color actually looks to the human eye!
Daniel (Less than 3mph) posted in
another thread (which coincidentally
was started by you!) a few photos he
took in person of 'Boardman Blue Metallic'
& the color is actually quite stunning!
It might not be your 'cup of tea', but
to declare it factually as 'ugly' is both
prematured & inmature (in my opinion).
Taste is colors is very subjective. We
all have our likes & dislikes. I myself
kid a couple of colors that PAG has
formulated in the past to make the
point that not all of their 'arrows' hit
the intended 'target' ('Lime Gold Metallic',
'Nordic Gold' & 'Togo Brown'). I think
folks here by now understand somewhat
my sense of humor & kidding about the
cemetery for unpopular Porsche colors
at Feuerbach. And you are equally
entitled to dislike 'Boardman Blue
Metallic'. But I think at least you
should see the color in person before
declaring these 'definitive' negative
statements in our forum!

'Boardman Blue Metallic' is a poor example
to use to make your case that 'the emperor
has no clothes'. This color was specifically
formulated for one individual that ordered
these two Porsche models in this unusual
color! And if people get to know it, perhaps
it will be much in demand...assuming PAG
will let you order it via PTS. Maybe they
have an understanding with Mr. Boardman
that his color will not be allowed to be
reproduced! Stranger things have happened
at PAG.
In fact, there are many colors in the PTS list
that have assigned names that are unrecognizable
...meaning that they have no tie to historic vintage
colors at Porsche or any other marque. We really
don't know what most of these colors look like.
Often PAG doesn't tell you or send you photo
samples of these uncommon colors. These are
the 'sleeper' colors in the PTS list. And by having
an unusual & rather 'boring' name associated with
their requested color (e.g. perhaps 'Grass Green',
color code Y59, is really the early 911 color called
'Leaf Green'), nobody pays any attention to it
& it slips from the mind of the PTS cognoscenti. If
I wanted to have a truly 'unique' PTS color, I would
make sure that when I requested it I place unique
name regardless what historic Porsche, Ferrari,
Lamborghini or Alfa color I am trying to reproduce.

Thats what hat I always tell people about me.... don’t judge me from my pics. Wait until you see how good I look in person!
just yanking your chain. Of course color is subjective. I didn’t know there was such a thing as “factually ugly”, but I stand corrected and will be more careful now now on.
Funy I remember liking Nordic Gold when it first came out as the launch color for the 997 Targa. Maybe was more about me liking Targa than Nordic Gold. In hindsight, I see what you mean. I used to be a graphic designer I The early 90s and remember how we all loved teal green and purple back then, too. What were we thinking?

you to look even better in person!

auto, for example, was officially declared
'factually ugly' in 1979 by a team of
technical experts at the old National Bureau
of Standards (NBS) in Washington DC:

And notice how advertising works in two
different cultures. In 'Puritan' US, the ads
accented the practical 'wide' stance of the
vehicle:

In France, it highlighted the same thing...but
just a bit differently! Vive la différence!

So Mr Boardman went to great lengths to get that secret special color approved but then didn't buy the cars?
