Default 991.2 TTS > 991.2 GT3 Touring ?

I've just received the offer of a confirmed allocation. Keeping both is not an option and I am deeply torn...

Would you?
Why?

TTS are common and depreciate like a rock. There are a few for sale CPO at multiple Porsche dealerships around me with low miles and 1-2 years old for $60K off MSRP. You’ll always be able to buy one later anytime if you want, for far less than buying a new one. TTS is great daily: fast, quiet, comfortable, back seats, all luxury options.

GT3T will be far more rare and hold value far better. And it will also be the more visceral driving experience, even if not as fast in a straight line as TTS. But not as comfortable or as daily driveable as TTS.

Unless you think you’d find GT3T driving experience unpleasant for your use, then choice is easy.

100 percent with Lapis on this one. Sold my TTS and actually traded it for a 993TT because I missed the sports car experience...then the GT3 Touring came along and will likely sell 993TT and 991T4S. I do believe the GT3 Touring is the car I always wanted Porsche to build - for me anyway.

Unless you absolutely needed rear seats you'd be mad to take the Turbo over the GT3T!

There are only 2 991.2 TTS Cabs available in Canada at the moment for strong money. Not so common.

I've owned a GT3 and went off the deep end with track focused mods... but I do find myself missing the visceral driving experience over the Turbo.

I agree with your beliefs on the Touring

Back seats are over-rated! But the cabriolet aspect will be missed if I proceed.

Depends if you want a sports car or a fast grand touring car. Although I'd opt for the real GT3, wing and all.

NA, 6MT, RWD, roof v. FI, PDK, AWD, no roof

The TTS engine I actually like better than the GT3 engine and cab or not is a wash with me (if I'm honest I sort of rather have a cab), but 6MT makes the GT3 a no brainer. If I were a PDK guy I probably would not switch if I were you.

Totally different cars for totally different use. One will be better than the other, depending on what you want, and who you are. You asked, so here is what I would do.

Forget about resale values. I buy the car I want, I keep the car I want. Period.

I am a track hoar. So, no brainer for me. The car will be mostly track with occasional runs to the grocery. I have the GT3 allocation, it will be a stripper optioned only with go fast and go fast safely options from the factory and maybe aftermarket. Wing - definitely. PDK - absolutely. Deviated stitching, carbon fiber bits, Bose - WTF for?

I notice you are going for the Touring option if you get the GT3. So, are you more the touring kind of guy? IMO, the TTS is the better car for touring and occasional track use. So, if I wanted a mostly street car, TTS for me. TTS cab for sure.

OP does your SA just received an allocation today?
Weeks ago I was told Canadian allocations for 2018 have all been released. Are we getting more recently?

and my opinion for your situation: GET THE GT3T without any hesitation.
If you really need a cab, Carrera S Cab can do 80% of the job easily for 60% of the price.......

Allocation is confirmed, delivery would be next March, no idea when it became available.

My dealer has already confirmed a 991.2 GT3 w/ wing for November delivery and also a Touring for early '18 delivery.

This is their 3rd allocation with a list of 10 people already interested.

Still undecided....

Why not take GT3, drive for awhile and choose between the two then.

If you choose to dump tts, it's right at the start of driving season when price should be strongest.

I don't really think people cross-shop these two cars.

Sort of like asking whether you'd rather have a Ferrari 812 or the (upcoming) 488 Speciale.

The answer, of course, is both, but if you had to choose, it really comes down to what you want to do with the car.

GT cruiser? TTS, everyday and twice on Sunday.

Weekend canyon carver and occasional track toy? GT3 Touring.
