I left a 180K at the Ferrari dealer for a 488 and 150K at the Porsche dealer for an RS. At 7.5% sales tax that 25K. If you are reasonably sure of getting the next car it's a decent play.

You are a general creditor of the dealership at that point but in my case I was pretty sure the dealer wasn't going anywhere.

Neither dealer required a deposit or a trade in. It was my choice. I have a GT3.2 coming. I don't have a deposit on that car either.

I’ve done the same with Ferrari with no worries but the way GT allocations are right now I think it’s more of a gamble.....

To all i am well aware of it being a big gamble on allocation of a car if it shows. I liked my .1 3rs but didn’t love it. Feel like i got out at a minimal loss if a .2 3rs is in the pipeline. I could be dead wrong but felt like getting out of car either way. The contract clearly states i am guaranteed a .2 3rs car at msrp if the dealer gets an allocation if the car is ever made. Im leaning towards dealer following through unless its a limited run numbered vehicle. Either way opinions on pts and ccx ideas especially for seats (with pics if possible) would be appreciated

You didn’t love your .1 RS ?
Why would you invest so much into a .2RS ?
If you didn’t love the .1 what makes you think you will love the .2 ?

out of my 4 sports cars the .1 3rs went from 3rd to 2nd favorite. 2nd place was a strong 2nd to me if that makes sense. (Emotional attachment) I really really liked the .1 3rs Still not as satisfying as the LFA that i have. Thats all. Hoping the .2 3rs will be just that much better to maybe move into the “love” section

Can’t see much difference from .1 to .2 RS. Most likely same 4.0 engine with a few tweaks, styling should be similar. For the money of the new RS, maybe other options out there for you. Lambo, F car and Mclarren to name a few.

We've already seen how well that played out with the GT2RS...

It's not really risky to leave the $227k with a Porsche dealer for a year, so why not do so and preserve the $20,000 in sales tax benefit? If it doesn't work out, you request your funds back. I don't see a problem and that's how a pre-trade scenario works, but I would have it all documented in tight contractual language.

leaving the money is one issue, my understanding is you can't get trade in credit on sales taxes unless the transactions are within 6 months
I don't see you getting a .2 RS within 6 months
not really sure if this rule applies to all states , but better check with tax accountant in your area

Lol yes 200k meaning pay for two and get only one Which i think is ridiculous since its not a limited production numbered vehicle. Either way am thinking of pts on the .2 3rs if it’s actually made. Wanted also a bunch of ccx options. (Like gt2rs fender vent inserts in carbon). Custom factory graphics custom seat ideas looking for opinions pictures ideas etc if anyone willing to help. My top two colors right now are mexico blue ( my actual favorite but not wanting since so many manufacturers paint similar color) and or rubystone red ( wife pushing me on this). Not looking for any color that is on the quiet side. Working on interior ideas looking through forum nothing jumping out at me yet. Thanks in advance
I'm sure it'll all work out somehow. Such difficult decisions to make!

I'm a huge fan of the LFA Nuburg Edition. Special. I hope you find one quick.

I'd also pass on the non-motorsport .1 engine. It's not a lifetime car to me. .2 GT3 put the GT in GT3.
