Porsche experience ATL
I flew down to Atlanta yesterday to drive the 991 GT3 and 991 Turbo at the Porsche experience center in Atlanta GA. I have never driven on a track before so this was my first experience. I started off in the Turbo and did some warm up laps, then drove on the skid track. Getting the car side ways and how to manage the slide. After that we moved onto the slalom track. The grip this thing has in just insane. Lastly we did launch control. Talk about leaving me speechless. This thing is a rocket, you can read the stats all day long but doing it first hand was other worldly.
Then we moved into the GT3. We jumped back onto the track to get me comfortable with the car before moving onto the circle wet track where I learned how to drift the GT3 in control. After that we then moved back to the straight line where I launched it 3 times. Yes the turbo is fast but this was no baby. Got it side ways off the start which got the blood flowing. That 9,000 rpm redline is intoxicating. We finished with a handful of hotlaps to see what I could do.
Lastly, I asked my driving coach if he could take out the GT3 and show me what a few hot laps is like with a professional. At this time everyone was finished and sitting around, talking about their own experience. We drove out, stopped at the beginning of the track. He launched it and off we went. If there was a microphone in the car and you listened to it after you would have thought you were listening to a ****. He was entering corners at speeds I couldnt wrap my head around. After I was sweating like I finished a marathon, he said he only went about 75% because the tires were worn. HA!
The GT3, flat out, SCARY! The performance that thing car put down as a road car is mesmerizing. The grip it can handle, the power it puts down, the whole package. If you own one I am more jealous than ever before. I could have kept going about everything but instead here are some pictures.
