I am in the mid Atlantic.

I just want to find some snows or all seasons. Not sure why it is that hard!

This rear tire/rim setup is within 1% of the rolling diameter of the stock tire/rim setup, so it will not be a problem. I use this setup in the winter when temperatures fall below 7 degrees Celsius, as summer tires suck below that temperature. I only drive the GT3 in the winter when there is no snow on the roads, so I don't need the snow traction.
Just what I needed to hear! Where did you get the wheels?

Year around snow tires on a GT3; GT3 wing removal; etc.

The end of the world must be near.

I think the confusion stems from you jumping from summer, to snow tires. Snow tires have tiny little grooves which wear out quite quickly in regular use, and handle relatively poorly in warmer temps. It would be VERY unusual to run them year round. Are you sure you don't mean all-season tires maybe?

Not wanting to be rude but why are you buying a GT3?

With winter or all season tires you will not be able to use the car as intended and only be able to access a significantly reduced amount of its capabilities. Anyway, you can't get them for the GT3.

For winter, I have a spare set of GT3 wheels mounted with the same summer tires as fitted to the Turbo S. i.e. 305 PZeros....but I only fit them if I need to go somewhere in the GT3 and I know its going to be really, really wet. Otherwise the CUP tires are fine in the rain. I just drove 700kms back from Leipzig on the autobahn in the rain and the cup tires were ok as long as you moderate your speed to suit the conditions.

I know. I just did it one year and was like “hey, these are great in rain/cold” and I went with it. Those tiny groves are called sipes and they are what make snows great in wet. As far as wear, I got 15k miles on rear snows on my lotus, I have 12k on the ones on the Jag and they are doing fine probably half tread and my daily I get about 35-40k out of a set and that is replacing around 4/32nds.

A good true all season like continental DWS would be great since I am not actually going to drive in snow or ice, but they don’t exist in 305 30 R20. Actually no all season exists in 305 30 R20. So between summers and snows, I will roll on snows.

MICHELIN PILOT ALPIN PA4 N-SPEC is the winter tire that was on my GT3 when I picked it up in November from the factory. Great tire in cold and rain. Did not drive them in the snow.
They were mounted on turbo wheels:
Front - 9" x 20" ET51 - 245/35 R20
Rear - 11" x 20" ET59 - 295/30 R20

It is indeed questionable to use winters all year unless you live in an extremely cold climate. Unless you go very neutral on the camber I reckon you'll just quickly ruin them which defeats the safety aspect. Would recommend spending the 100 bucks or so it costs to change your tyres to match the season.

As for which winters are best, I would try calling the Porsche Experience team. They run a bunch of GT3 cars in their winter events. Though I suspect must are on studs, they should have knowledge of the most appropriate winter tyre.

Hey.. I'm in Canada so I feel your pain about having snows.. But you really wouldnt want to be running them 365/ 24-7.. I've driven r-comps in temps as low as -5* C and as long as you warm them up properly they are typically fine for moving the car around and taking short trips (granted your coming from a heated garage)

As mentioned earlier, you are giving up a whole lot of performance and burning $ if you drive with snows all year round.. they will get nuked in weather above 7* C

Snow/Rain, can't be that bad in the mid -A?

Even in cold dry conditions you're giving up a lot of grip with the snows vs MPSC2 in 50F+. I wouldn't even run snows year round on a C2S let alone a GT3.

With warmed up tires and a warmed up car I remember having the back end come around from a standing start on the 991.1 GT3 in dry cold conditions (it was 11F). It was very gradual and easy to correct, but you're really limiting the car.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed driving it in the winter, but I also noticed a very big improvement in turn-in once I switched back to MPSC2s in the spring.

You should do what I do. I like the DWS tires thus ordered a Panamera with 20" wheels for the winter.

The next step in finding the right tires is finding the right car for your purpose.

Not trying to be an ***, but if you're going to be DDing the car in really cold temps and/or snow, why not buy a PASM GTS4, maybe with 5 lugs? Plenty of sport performance, much better snow performance, better clearance, etc.

May I suggest a cayenne turbo or driving lessons?

if you want a winter tire for winter season I understand, I drove 911's during winter and they are fun cars in the snow, but driving on winters year round? come on! a winter tire will not give you the same grip and braking performance that a supersport will give you.

If you buy those kinds of cars to doddle around on winters, get a kia.

I live in Canada, we get all kinds of weather, cold, snow, rain and hot.

In the summer I never thought a michelin supersport was lacking grip in the rain. cup2's or trofeo R you'd be right, but you should consider the supersport or the 4S

I don't want to be rude, but if you buy a GT3 or any sport cars you should be confident enough to at least drive a performance summer tire even in the rain and smart enough to adjust your driving to the conditions or to not drive those cars if the weather is really bad.

I was confident until this happened. Now, all seasons or snows for me.

I won’t drive it in snow, but I don’t want to be paranoid every time it is cold and/or I get a surprise rain.
