Default Advice: GT3 to Touring Conversion

I have GT3 coming in before end of calendar year. Manual. Very excited. Think I am going to keep this longer than any car that I have in awhile.

I was really hoping for wingless.....but my order is locked. The wing is a PR problem since I will drive the car every day -- don't want employees seeing it, don't want cops, my wife, etc....

I will drive the car with a little bit of spirit on the country roads around here, but will never track it. Any advice on the easiest way to go "wingless" after delivery. What rear deck replacement should I order? Is there a software problem? Dealer is clueless

Thank you

Cheapest and easiest solution would be to take a laxative. And drive the car as is.

Seriously, you don't want to drive a car with a wing and you ordered a $170,000 car with a wing?

Nobody here knows much of anything as a brief search will confirm. Talk to your dealer or someone knowledgeable at Porsche. By the time you receive your car the situation may have changed.

Wait...what Don't want wife to see it? lol. Are you going to be parking the gt3 at somewhere else and then she has no clue about it? lol.

You'd be better off having the dealer sell this car to someone else and hope you can get another allocation.

The Touring has the retractable rear spoiler. You'd need a spoiler, paint, motor, rear grille, lots of wiring and software all with a new center console that has a button for it too.

Possible?? Sure. RJ put a 6 speed into an RS. Anything is "possible".

Worth your while?? Probably not. The cost could be like $15K and a big hit or resale. Worth it?

Maybe better off to see if you can put the RS wing on less the "wing"?

For all the hassle and $$$, you could just get into a new allocation and even pay a ADM and still come ahead.

Regardless, getting out of the car is the easiest thing to do. If you didn't like the wing, why did you order it?

Delete - thought OP's post was surely in jest.

How many PM's has this guy gotten to "take the car off his hands"?

Just remove the Porsche badge and put this on the back. Everyone will stop paying attention to the car.

As ridiculous as this is, I bet he's not the only one in that situation. GT3 is now mostly a vanity item. It's more important what the stitching colors are and the look of being wingless than anything about performance on the track.

Based on his previous posts and threads, looks like he serious.

lol, right.....and I love the thought process....well if I'm going 80 in a 40 and don't have a wing the cops won't see me....and when I leave the house in the morning in my new wingless Porsche my wife won't see it.....but all hell breaks loose with the wing there....
