Default GT3 vs GT3RS difference thread

I searched but could not find a thread that lists all of the differences between the 991 GT3 and RS. I know most of the important ones to me but was curious as to what all of them are. Is there one that has a comparison of them or let's start one. I can't see it on the Porsche site either that is easy to compare.

Depends which GT3- .1 or .2. But in the end it comes down to styling for me. The RS is awesome but the wing for me is way over the top and not a fan of the Turbo side scoops.

But- hey- if they put a Manual in the .2RS I can overlook the many styling flaws

two completely different cars and each special in their own right. Owned/driven my .1 GT3 and driven my buddy's .1 RS (who previously owned a .1 GT3).

I guess the first track match between the .2 and the current RS will start the real conversation

the RS will always have that "special" appeal but you have to decide if you want a manual or not. I could care less about lap times, and no one is driving either of these cars to there limit on the street. I just want to shift gears

As has been said before an RS is an RS, but both are great cars.
Biggest difference is front tyre and aero, RS has more grip in the dry for sure.
I had a Gen1 991 GT3 and RS, both epic, but RS always felt more special (may be in the brain) and felt like it pulled harder.
From what other have indicated .2 GT3 goes just as well as .1 RS and has a little more aero, but still not the same contact patch. May be difficult in a UK winter to tell for sure, but would imagine the grip difference will be closer.

Many differences. Motor, aero, body panel materials, body shape, tire sizes, just to name a few.

I'm with jimmy. I love the RS idea, but the RS styling is over the top for me, particularly the turbo side scoops

I'll stick with GT3s as I have a .2 GT3 on order.
I also expect engine torque will be the same between the .2 GT3 and .2 RS.

Differences between .1 GT2 and .1 RS (I have both and drive them almost everyday and also drove both at the same trackday)

Engine

--> more torque and revs faster

PDK

--> I don't know for sure, but the RS seems to have a closer ratio gears than the GT3, might be because of the lower redline and a faster revving engine. I always drive the cars in manual mode and the first time I drove the RS on track I kept hitting the limiter. I tend to shift at a certain sound from the engine in the GT3, but the lower rpm of the RS were throwing me off and I was hitting the limiter before my ears were telling me to change gears. I'm used to it now, but those last 200rpm in the GT3 are awsome!

Steering feel

--> RS steering is smaller both total width and thickness, and feels lighter than the GT3 when driving

paddles

--> The RS paddles have a shorter travel when you pull them back. The pullback resistance is also slightly less and the GT3

Shifting

--> Believe it or not, the PDK shifts in manual mode feel crisper and quicker in the RS than in the GT3. you feel a bigger punch from the shifts in your back

Grip

--> The RS has more grip, both tires and aero. Simply put, I'm at least 10-15 km/h in the RS than the GT3 (back to back, same brand tires and same track, same day)

Sound

--> the GT3 has the GMG center bypass and the RS has the sharkwerks center bypass. the rest of their exhaust are stock.
--> GMG has more drone under 5k and is louder and more feels like the sound has more bass than the sharkwerks.
--> sharky is more civilized around town with almost no drone and is higher pitch at redline.
--> GMG has more backfires under partial throttle
--> PDK pops more when upshifting (this last point could be partially given to how both cars shift)
--> overall if you want louder within reason go sharky, if you want all out badass sound go GMG

Frunk

--> the front frunk is a bit harder to pull down and close in the RS because the hood is carbon and they kept the same hydraulics springs than the GT3 which has a heavier hood, so less effort against the springs required to close the GT3's frunk.
