another seat thread 18 way comparing 14 way
so I was totally ready for LWB but being tall (not the angle of the seat back, thats perfect) the hip area is so tight, it kills me in 10 min, like the metal is digging into my upper back hip. So i sat in 4 ways, fine, then 14 ways in a 991s great, are the 14 ways the same height as the 18 ways, is so then it will be 18 ways. I would like the extra bolster when i want it, but cant spend 160k on a car with LWB that kill me in 5 miles. thanks

I've simultaneously owned both the 4 ways (GT4) and 18-ways (GT3). They seemed exactly the same to me. The 18-ways just had all electric (and more) adjustments. But same seating position and comfort, IMO.
So, IMO, only reason to get 18-ways v 4-ways are:
- you want or need the adjustable lumbar support (4-ways had good lumbar support, IMO, but it's not adjustable)
- you feel it will affect resale value a lot (maybe, but more so if you have an otherwise high option car)
- you want to have the rear shells of them in leather (only on 18-ways)
- you want to do CXX custom tailored seat option, which is only available in combination with 18-ways or LWB.

i cant believe my entire mental fart is seats and color. I wish they made multiple size buckets, and this would be easy. The money is really moot, its the height of the seat i am afraid of with the 18 ways, need to find a car with 18 ways and see if there really is a difference in height vs 4 ways, (that big of one) if 18 ways are the same as 14 ways in height, there is a lot of talk on here that they are noticeably higher and i am 6'4 so i need the lowest option that works. thanks

I've seen several threads stating the 4-ways were more comfortable than the 18-ways. Not sure on the height. For me, the 14-way seats are the most uncomfortable.
Surprising you found the full bucket seats (918) too narrow. They are significantly wider than the sport bucket seats (GT2).
Best bet is to stop by a dealer. They are bound to have one of the many 911 variants with 18-way seats. Personally, if the full bucket seats are out, I'd go with the 4-way seats.

Agreed dealer will have 18 ways to sit in, very commen. However I have 18 ways in mine and at 6' 225 I find them very comfortable.
Not sure what you refer to as height as they seem very similar here?

18 ways will not sit as low as the 4 ways in both of their lowest position. I had the lwbs in my .1 but going with the 4 ways in my .2 for more comfort, ease of getting in and out, and also for access to the rear since they fold forward,, I will not be tracking this car much. I sat in both the 18 ways and the 4 ways at my dealer to confirm the height, the 4 ways sit just as low as the lwbs in their lowest position.

I am 6'4"" and have had multiple cars with 18 ways including an RS and have found them to be very comfortable. 4 ways do not offer deviated thread if that is important as well.

4 way SS+ and 18 ways are identical in shape and feel, though the 4W obviously don't have the bolster adjustments to tighten up the fit so jumping in one then the other might result in you thinking the 4ways are slightly wider. But the shape and size of the seats are identical. The 4W seats can go a little lower in the car (~1.5" IIRC) due to the lack of the motors.
The 14 ways are an entirely different shape of seat from the 18 ways, useless to even compare the two.

A point of difference Porsche could offer on its GT range are LWB seats to measure. Even a small / medium or large at least. Assuming one seat fits all is a bit cheap. Even push bikes these days fit individuals and your only sitting your backside on a few inches..

You really do just need to sit in them all. Many will say 14 ways suck. I love them and we did 2500 miles in 7 days and both my wife and I were comfortable. Funny thing is also I have heard that 18 way and 14 way are the exact seat except the upper part by your shoulders is wider but you wouldn't think that the way folks hate on 14 way.
LWB are also a no go for me, my build. They are the coolest looking and the most uncomfortable ever.
Try them all out and just get the ones you like the best.

The 4 way do in fact come in deviated stitching. As others have already mentioned the 14 way are irrelevant in GT cars. There's 4 way, 18 way, and LWBs. One benefit that hasn't been mentioned is that the 4 way seats are quite a bit lighter than the 18 way. Also, IMO, the 4 ways are very comfortable. With that said I see the 4 way as a middle ground between the 18 way and LWBs in both terms of lightweight and comfortability. As the OP is mostly concerned with seat height driving position I recommend the 4 way seats. Here's a pic of mine with deviated stitching on a .1 (also allowed on .2 config):
