.1 GT3 w/ 4.0 engine?

.1 GT3 w/ 4.0 engine?
With .1 GT3 prices coming down, how feasible, or effective would it be to: Buy a used .1 GT3, drive the **** out of it until the extended warranty runs out (120k mi, or 10 yrs), and source (if possible) a .2 GT3 engine to replace it if, and when it goes bad?
I'm on the fence of either buying a 997.2gt3/rs vs 991.1/.2 GT3 and with the current prices of these 4 vehicles, (30k delta) all seem viable. And given these choices I'm still trying to figure out which would fit me best.
.7 GT3 pros:mezger, ~120k price, manual, will hold value well, bulletproof and race-bred engine
.7 GT3 cons: for ~5-10k more I can get a "newer" .1 GT3, "slowest" of the bunch, mileage will negatively affect value
.7 GT3rs pros: RS, mezger, manual, will hold value VERY well, bulletproof and race-bred engine
.7 GT3rs cons:~160k where i could buy a new .2GT3 for, mileage negatively affecting value,
.1 GT3 pros: market has come down to reality, extended warranty, immediate access
.1 GT3 cons: no manual, not a race-proven engine,
.2 GT3 pros: available in manual, new w/ warranty, 4.0 race-bred engine, "fastest" of the bunch
.2 GT3 cons: long wait list (won't even know if I'll get one)
This would be a weekend car, with the possibility of 1 or 2 track/ auto x events a year. I just want the most enjoyment per dollar.

Keep in mind that this warranty extension covers a very specific finger follower problem. It is not a comprehensive engine warranty.

Your possibilities didn't include pushing the .1 motor out to 4L. It's completely ridiculous to consider swapping the entire engine when with a few mods, the old engine is capable of matching or besting the new one.
The mezger vs 9A1 engine debate is old and well discussed here.

Drive the car for 5 years and 60k miles first before you worry about the full 10 years & 120k miles.

The 997 and 991 are tough comparisons. They are very different vehicles. If you want manual and raw its the 997. If you want PDK and newer technology its the 991.1. If you are not already on a list for the 991.2 don't count on getting one. With the finger follower warranty I think the .1 is a very solid choice. Regardless of what you select, set realistic expectations about miles/value. Cars are depreciating assets.

Can do builds with either the 997.2 GT3 or the 991.1 GT3. We're finishing 2 4.2L 997 GT3's over the next week or so, and have the parts inbound for our 4.5L 9A1 Spyder build (which all carries over into the 991 GT3). The easy route would be 4.1L 991.1 GT3, keeps the crank and rods, but would only do it on a car with upgraded solid lash valve train though in a GT3...

The 10 year 120k warranty is specific to the finger follower wear issue only and is also from the inservice date. So for 2014 cars that takes the warranty for misfires related to finger follower wear to 2024...
