Default Recommend a Good Pressure Washer?

Gonna finally break down and do a pressure washer, foam cannon combo. Have the foam cannon part picked out (MTM), now looking for a good quality pressure washer. Any recommendations of good ones or those to avoid?

Gas or electric? For some strange reason I have this aversion to storing gas cans in the garage. Every tool I have is electric ... snow blower, lawn mower, leaf blower, and weed cutter. They all do a great job. I have purchased many electric power washers and they all were a disappointment.

Check out this. You can watch hours of video on car washing or buy a kit. No affiliation.

Beware the pressure washer:

From Consumers Report:

"Should you pressure wash it [your car]?
No. Plenty of people do, but it can do more harm than good. A car wash usually gets the job done just fine—so does a garden hose and soapy sponge. Using a pressure washer can damage or nick the paint, which could lead to rust down the road. Instead, use a little elbow grease and a specialized cleaner on problem spots such as wheels."

Consumer's Report - god love 'em, but they usually put the Toyota Camry at the top of the recommendations.

Avoiding a high pressure gas model is probably a good idea, but smaller electric pressure washers have lower power and can be used quite safely.

agreed, and all depends on how you use it. the pressure of the water falls off dramatically even one foot away from the nozzle.

not to mention, I would never take advice on properly caring for paint from an article that suggests you use a sponge for washing a car. that's swirl city right there.

Been using the following one for over a year, rock solid, and it has a Honda engine.

Just don't use the 0 degree nozzle from 1 inch away and you'll be fine. I foam cannon my car every couple of weeks, and works wonders.

I'd give Matt a shout. He usually does extensive research and can provide pros and cons based on that. He's particular about the quality of the product as well. He dies have his own line of PW that you can inquire about. Not affiliated with his business but know and trust him.

Sounds weird, but I just junked my high-power gas pressure washer for a cheap electric one (Ryobi) and haven't looked back for the following reasons:

> More than enough power to handle the MTM
> Inherently less power, which is exactly what I want for car washing
> Smaller
> Much less noisy (can use it early morning or late evening)
> Uses less water
> No gas

Pressure washers are great if you use the correct nozzles and handle them with care. Often I just use it for the foam canon though and use a regular hose for rinsing (regular spray for the rinse followed by the flooding technique to aid drying)

I tried a few different ones (last was a Subaru from Costco). One way or another they all let me down. But as others have said...go see Matt.

The Kranzel that Matt sells is a very high quality machine and It will be the last pressure washer you will ever need to purchase.

I use this one. Very quiet and auto shut-off.
