LWB seat stripe in 991.2 GT3

So here's the unhappy answer for everyone hoping to be able to delete the stripe on the bucket seats, this confirmed from PCNA this week who just got the info from Germany after testing completed on various options...

"The deviated stitching package will change the seat stripe to silver but will not automatically remove it. To remove the seat stripe from the LWB seats, we would need to custom tailor the seats into a solid alcatara seat center."

The LWB seats in 991.2 GT3 will come with stripes on the alcantara centers regardless of whether one opts for the deviated stitching package (stitching in colors other than the standard platinum silver or optional red offered in the configurator).

I guess Porsche figures the silver stripes on the alcantara seat centers won't clash with any of the other deviated stitching colors on offer, which by the way, will mirror the same stitching colors avail on that option on other 911's, including the GT2RS.

Cost to custom tailor the seats is now $8700 (up from $8500 previously), which allows one to do whatever one wants (different centers, leathers, piping or stitching, etc, etc).

Gotta say, I really wish that had given the option to delete the stripe without going full on custom tailoring the whole seat.

I am probably in the minority, but I think the stripe looks sharp. Especially in silver.

If I had a choice, I would delete the stripe but certainly not a deal breaker that it stays either.

I like the seat stripe, so no issues for me! :)

Don't hate enough to spend $8500

Having seen spent some considerable seat time now in cars with both the red stripes and the silver stripes, they are not bad. Indeed, after awhile you just hop in without noticing them. So don't fret.

Custom tailor????

You mean like what they did for the last 3 years for the GT3 and GT4....😖

+991...besides the platinum/silver stripe is less annoying than a red one so another reason not to upgrade to red stitching. :to_order:

Humm.

I would spend the $3500 to get deviated stitching in black anyway, so $8700 seems less crazy as I could live with the deviated stitching on the doors (I would skip the leather/alcantara interior as I dislike the alcantara lower dash) and I could get the seats completely in black natural leather with no headrest detail and with black stitching).

Does the $8700 also give you the option to paint the CF backs (I doubt it).

I find it ironic that many like stripes on the outside of the car but hate it on the inside. I wanted the stripe. It's another distinguishing feature of the .2 GT3. I think it enhances the interior and overcome the staidness of the regular seats.

Throw some sheepskin covers over it and you'll be fine....:D

If the car has two people seated in it, who cares?

I don't have an interest in the GT3 , but I hate the stripes - whatever color they are . They remind me of the stripes on a Mopar windbreaker I had in about 1970 when I drove a '69 Hemi Charger . Just cheesy looking . Kind of wonder if some of this is just Porsche poking us in the eye to make us spend more money . I hated the silver stitching on the RS when I ordered my car so in order to get a plain black interior had to buy leather , then the deviated stitching in black . From memory these changes plus the red door pulls ( to match belts ) was over 11K spent just on the interior - nuts !

Didn't like them at first...then I got used looking the various pics...after this topic I find them rather cool : )
