Default Steep Drive-in

Would it be possible to drive GT3 with lift into a underground garage with 25% slope gradient? It's about 14 degrees.
The drive-in would be quite wide so able to negotiate it at some angle. I am presently without GT3 so can't make measures to check it out myself.

I'm gonna guess that there should not be a problem with a 14 degree slope with the lift....

I have gone over some really steep angles in my RS with the lift on.. I think it should be ok

25 pct is incredibly steep. I'd guess no. Is this a public or private garage? I'd probably go observe others entering if its the former.

Something on your numbers is off. Assume its 40" from the center of your front wheel to the front edge of the lip spoiler. The clearance from the bottom of the lip spoiler is about 4.5". The lift gives you what; 1.25"? That would be a total front edge clearance of 5.75". Using trigonometry the angle you would have with the lift would be about 8.2 degrees. That number can vary slightly based on actual measurements and production tolerances.

Where are you getting 14 degrees from?

I have driven my car onto ferries with some steep ramps. When you take them at an angle the inside wheel actually comes off the ground with the lift up. If you have a wide area and room to maneuver you may be ok.

Downside: Relish in the scrapes and buy lips by the dozen.

Welcome to my world.. we need to throw up some serious diagrams to visualize all the trig involved

Thanks for your inputs.

I am facing a decision regarding my house project. The size of the plot is limiting and the only way to have underground garage is to make it max permissible slope which is 25% (it equals to 14 degrees angle).

I know that drive-ins are not simple triangles and can be profiled to allow for steeper slopes. I would also need to attack it at an angle but I am not sure if it would be possible to drive GT3 into such steep underground garage.

Your calculation is correct. Without the lift it's around 6 degrees (attack angle) so 8.2 makes absolutely sense.
25% is the maximum gradient drive-ins can have by my regulations. 25% is about 14 degrees.
GT3 would of course not clear a simple triangle with such a gradient. The thing is that you can negotiate it with some angle and the drive-ins are profiled and not simple triangles or ramps to say.

How wide at approach you can take will make all the difference, both in the front lip and making sure the middle of your car doesn't scrap when going over the apex of the hill.

Simply knowing the degree of the driveway won't tell the whole story. You need to figure out the effectI've approach angle based on going sideways onto the ramp.

One thing that needs to be looked at as well is the breakover angle between F&R as well. Unless this under ground garage driveway has a curved slope from the street and/or no rain channel between it and the street.

The transition is as important as te slope. If abrupt the car could high center for example on exit.

They do make car elevators :-)
