Track Tire Pressure

I found 32-33psi hot all around works the best for me. I started around 25-26psi cold before a session. It does take a few laps to build up the temp and pressure, so watch out on the first 3-5 laps!

I spent half of last weekend monkeying around with pressures struggling to get it right. I assumed that because of the 4 lb delta with the factory street setting 29/33 I should have the same delta for track, just lower starting pressures. But by doing so either my fronts were too low or my rears were too high when hot. Saw a couple of Michelin reps at the track, and they suggested even pressures all around, targeting about 33 hot. I found performance pretty similar in the 32-36 range hot.. Below 30 the fronts roll over and above 36 the rears get greasy. Setting them the same front and back wouldn't have occurred to me without being told but seemed to do the trick.

I have 2016 RS. I usually start 1 psi different in front/rears; starting pressures depend on temps- if cold run higher, if hot out then really run them low. Shoot for low 30s hot as most have stated after 3-4 laps and this seems to be the sweet spot. Down side I have found by running lower and lower pressures is that I am burning through tire sets pretty quickly. I got 3 days out of my last set.

confirming best pressure hot
My target is 30/32. was 30/30 but rear tires rolled a little too much. 32 fixed it. I start with 23/24 in the morning, but this is for Sebring.

I run 32 Front 35 Rear (Hot). Mostly because the rears roll over even at 35 hot.
I can also say (and I'll try to post additional info/vids later)... but I believe the .2 needs at least 2.2 negative camber square... and maybe 2.5. I just ran my 3rd 'open track' day... and ended up cording all 4 tires (about a dozen heat cycles), and all 4 corded on the outside 2" of the tires.. this is with a 1.8 negative square Camber setup.
I thought it was fine, as the fronts were rolling over, but clearly... seeing all 4 cord in the outside edges, the car needs much more camber Front & Rear (IMO).
I'll post pics/vids this weekend.
Best Regards,
Dave
