991 GT3RS shows oil level above normal
I turned the GT3RS on today. It has been about 95 degrees here in East Texas. The display says 'Oil level is above normal level. Please consult your service department'.
I have not opened the oil cap to see if the oil level is really elevated. I would like to know if someone has had a similar warning show up and if I need to call service department. The nearest porsche service is about 100 miles from me. I would like to know if there is a simple fix for this problem.
Thanks,
Raghu

open and close the engine cover, and see if it goes away. Works sometimes for me; otherwise, a hard 10 minute flogging on open roads will get it back to a "normal" level

Have you added or changed oil recently? Detail many miss is difference between 1 bar and 5 bars on the oil level display is only .85 quart. Mine came back from oil change with only 1 bar showing. Technician purposely under-fills for fear of over-filling. Took less that 1/2 quart to take it 5 bars.
If it doesn't reset then only solution is to pull the shielding and drain some oil.

Don't fill to 5 bars. Keep the level in the middle blocks. If you fill to max and it gets hot you get overfill errors due to heat expansion or something. That booger is sensitive. You can try to open the trunk and loosen the oil cap then close it back up again and wait three minutes for the sensor to reset. If that doesn't work only permanent solution is as stated above, drain a little oil.

1900 miles since oil change
I opened the engine cover as directed and opened the oil caps and closed them and then shut the engine cover. Turned the engine on and the indicator went away.
Thanks guys.

Mine too. Ignore it.

This appears to be the only nagging issue my car has. I will do an oil change, then put 1,000 miles on it, and at some point after that get the overfill warning. I try to ignore it.

I went to dealer today for this issue and was told that typically service depts slightly overfill these cars since they burn oil more than most. I was also told drive it hard and the error goes away. Seems accurate - based on above comments..
