2014 - 2015 GT3?

2014 - 2015 GT3?
I currently have a 2011 Carrera S with 31K miles. It is a DD and it has been flawless, but I feel like it is time to move on. I am considering a 2014-2015 GT3 and have been searching online. There are a lot to choose from, but I am concerned by what seems to be a common theme.
Most of the "14 & '15 GT3s available have 3K to 10K miles. A few have more, a few less. The thing that concerns me is how many owners these low-mileage cars have had. It is not uncommon to see 2, 3 and even 4 owners on vehicles with 10K miles or less. What am I missing about the GT3 that would cause this kind of turnover?

People trying to cash in?
If their not driving it why would they keep it? Most likely upgrading to an RS or to another car. I feel like a good portion of GT3 buyers don't keep them that long.

I went from a DD 2012 Carrera S with 40k miles to a DD 2015 gt3 with 6k miles. The first 1-2 weeks I really didn't know whether I had made the right decision. The GT3 is more than just a Carrera with a bigger badder engine in it. It is raw. Despite what reviewers say it is not as comfortable or cozy as a Carrera S. It makes you feel like you are really in a sports car. The Carrera S (which I really enjoyed and was my favorite car ever before the GT3) really does feel like a luxury sedan compared to the GT3. Any doubts I had about the trade dissipated after the first 2 weeks after some spirited drives and a track day. I don't think a lot of people who go from a Carrera S DD to a GT3 DD realize what kind of change it is going to be.

Me personally - I owned a GT3 briefly until I got a call that a new RS was available and I moved in to that.
I've heard from dealers that in some cases people buy them and find them too rough. They're expecting a Carrera but just "more". And it's definitely "more" but it comes at a price.
OP: If you're looking to move on from the Carrera S have you considered a pre-owned Turbo S? I think if I wanted a more bad-*ss Porsche for DD/road use I'd look at one. More comfortable, the power comes on in a way that is more fun on the street and the depreciation hit they take is terrific for a CPO buyer.

A fair number of the cars were traded for an RS, and some guys just had too many cars and didn't drive it.

Well the first owner when he got it didn't know it didn't have back seats, "family circumstances", "got another allocation with LWB's" etc, etc and flipped it, oh sorry I meant sold it.
The next owner actually bought the car but because he paid over MSRP he was light on the miles in hopes to not destroy the value. The next guy got it for a reasonable price and the car started to get actually driven.
Now that the .2 is coming people can finally buy these cars for a decent amount under MSRP and feel great about driving them.
Good luck on your search but I would wait until the first .2 hits the ground and you will get even a better value. Also stay away from the 14's.

If you don't know about 14's, the right questions to ask etc which it sounds like he is not that educated on the GT3 it is easier to stay away. People are having way more problems with the 14's than the others with the 16's having the least.

I think several statement are true here. I couldn't dive one before but got an opening on a per order coming to a dealer at MSRP. Mine is a 15 delivered and picked up by me in Dec. 14.
I had driven both, last GT3 and current 991 series. The 991 line in most cases was too civilized for a daily. Fine when driven hard but a lot of money that didn't feel special when driven easy.
After owning for going on the 3ed year now I don't regret it. I dive it for fun and use it a fair amount; 23K miles to date. All cars have some issues and if your here then you can find them all. Mine has only had a couple of miner warranty issue and typical maintenance. Still the best car I ever had and have had many. I have another daily and have access to many great driving areas within a few miles. Do not track it.

Personally if your price range is only into 2014 I would rather get a 2014 Turbo S. more internal content, more power, more utility.
I love Gt3 and GT3RS and have had almost 10 of them. But- I don't think it's a car I'd put 10k miles a year on- especially with the sensitivity most buyers have to GT miles vs Turbo miles.
30k mile Turbo? No sweat. No second thoughts.
20-30k mile 2014 GT3? Time to waterboard the previous owner to make sure you get what you are paying for...

I have been watching the 991.1 GT3 market all summer, since I sold my beloved 996 in anticipation of an "upgrade." Some of the '14 GT3's got engine replacements and 1 year extended warranty from the factory, but are NOT CPO'able....they also did not come with lightweight buckets, which is a very desirable option........IF you track your car or want to look like "da bomb" at cars and coffee..........
The '15 GT3's (just like the 996 (non gt3's) and 997 GT3 (cam actuators, coolant pipes) are having issues, top end issues due to oiling/pressure/design flaw?/finger follower matters which in some cases requires serious downtime and potentially expensive updates....aside from that, they are still extremely desirable and coveted for many many different reasons......if I could add my .02, get a '15 and make sure it is CPO'd...the cost is somewhat offset buy the piece of mind....if you want the most "security" it looks like the "16 GT3's are simply "the ticket!"
Pricing has been softening for a while, now that the initial rush, "must have it" mentality has abated. With the anticipated arrival of the 991.2 soon to be delivered, '18 GT3, sometime in September (?) and initial deliveries will be PDK only, there will be a number GT3's that come to market as owners look to exit their 991.1 GT3's for the newly arriving 991.2 cars.
'14 GT3's have been offered in the $130's, with one with high mileage (blk) at $118- and the '15 GT3 pricing is still all over the place depending on age, options, ranging from the low of about $135 to over $150...the '16's are $160 plus right now.........
the educated Rl'ers in here with much more experience than myself predict that you might see about a 15% discount off sticker.......around August??? Good luck....I know I am waiting, got my wish list spec and a '14 is not on that list........
