x73

New here so forgive me if this has been done to death:

I live in the northwest so there are numerous ferries to enter and exit and my workplace parkade has challenging topography. Will there be tears of rage as a result of the x73 ground clearance? Perhaps more crying than exulting over the handling benefits?

Also, could someone with experience compare the drive/ride experience of the x73 as contrasted with the Sport setting on the PASM?

Thanks

Spyder owner in the PNW with the 20mm lower X73 suspension and have not problems with it IF, the conditional IF, I transverse the steep areas on the diagonal, especially on and off boarding ferries are low tide.

Every Magazine review says to buy the x73, it is the best handling of the options

Just do it. It looks great, and handles even better.

If you have challenging topography you will scrape if you are not very careful. Try to drive a car with SS before you buy.

What's a scrape of two compared to the enjoyment delivered?

It's great!

Get it.

ferry ground clearance

So I have a 997.2 C2, so i don't know how much lower the x73 is.
But I have been on pretty much every Ferry Route in Puget Sound as well as the Twassen to Sydney BC ferry with the car and I have never bottomed out.
P.S. Tomorrow is Porsche day at Redmond Exotics if you would like to see about 300 Porsches all lined up.

not sure of X-73 but i had the X-74 on my '02 996C2 street only car (no track here any longer) & the ride was just perfect- It looked perfect- not too low & rode nice- firmer than stock for sure but not harsh- i thought it was perfect, even for our 3rd world streets.

Sold car & now have street only '07 997.1TT- the stock PASM sport setting on it is much to harsh for daily driving- X-74 was much nicer riding- I bought the TPC- DSC unit which replaced the stock PASM unit & it now has 3 settings all of which are nice- If porsche made an X-73 for the 997.1T id have it- The DSC unit transforms the suspension w/o having to replace actual suspension.

I have the x73 on my 2015 cayman GTS. I don't usually scrape when I'm on my 20" OEM wheels. with my 18" TE37 which drops the car another 30mm.. I scrape everywhere

How do you get 30 mm lower by going to 18" wheels and tires? Any other lowering mods?

265/35/20 to 245/40/18 about an inch difference in rolling diameter

Thats a rear versus a front size. You need to compare equal to equal and then take 1/2 half of that to determine ride height difference. So, in your case OEM front is 235/35-20 (26.5") and track front is 245/40-18 (25.7"). Difference is .8" from which you get a ride height difference of .4" or 10 mm.
Similar holds true for rear vs rear.

Why 1/2 that for ride height difference? Diameter vs radius?

Simple. Wheel attaches in the middle. 1/2 above and 1/2 below attach point. Now think about what affects height.

Easily verified if you so choose. Measure from ground to a ref point with OEM wheels. Repeat measurement with track wheels to same ref point.
