Default Tools?

I just picked up a 2010 Cayman S and am having a blast getting to know her! I'd like to do some general maintenance and found out that Torx drivers are needed to get at the engine. I've been wrenching on my '88 911 for a while so I have a decent set of tools for that car but are there other tools in addition to a Torx set for general Cayman maintenance that I should get?

Thanks,
-Terry

I'd get some 80 grit sandpaper, by the looks of that machine you're going to need it to get the grin off your face after every drive.

If you plan on changing plugs out one day, you'll need about 15 feet of extension on the end of your ratchet.

Commonly used Torx are T20,25,30, and 55 (brake caliper). I needed to add an 18 mm combination wrench. Just about mandatory to have an oil filter socket on a Gen 2.

Thanks for all the suggestions (especially the sandpaper)!

I received a Pelican Parts gift certificate for xmas and am looking at this Torx set: <http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_WTD166_pg185.htm>

kosmo, I'm not familiar with XZN. This? <http://www.amazon.com/Neiko-10-Piece-Triple-Square-Quality/dp/B004WK9I3O> Where would I use them?

Nice looking car!
These cars are so low that a low profile floor jack is really helpful to jack up the car for oil changes, etc. You might already have this from your earlier wrenching though?
I picked up an interior trim removal tool set which helps when its time to get any of the interior panels off including the carpet insert above the engine lid.

yes, thats the set I have. XZN or Triple Square are mainly used in German cars.
they are very similar to spline drives w/ 12 bits but have sharper (90deg) cuts. I think its used in high torque areas. Porsches uses them on the door latches and seat rail bolts.

Frankly I think its all just a conspriracy to get us to buy more tools!!!

That is a gorgeous Cayman S! Of the current Porsche offerings, the Cayman S is a slam-dunk for fun-factor - great car!

Enjoy and update us as you learn more about her.

Here is another one for your consideration;
You will need to bleed your brakes at least once a year if tracked or every 2 years as per the maintance schedule. This brake bleeder wrench is invaluable

What a beautiful machine, for once I don't have car envy;-)

Its probably the angle of the photo, but could you be missing a wheel stud? Or is just a theft proof one with a lower profile.?
