Default Is it possible to fit a bicycle in a Cayman?

I haven't been up-close with a Cayman yet; could I fit my road bike in the back of one? The front wheel [obviously] would have to come off.

Sure, if you take a plasma cutter to it (in 5 inch pieces) it should fit comfortably.

Seriously, I climbed around one and I say no way...

you getting cayman to add to 997? good for you!

yes, bike would fit, even mt bike (maverick, wich has long wheel base)

for road, i have done it with my C50.
both wheels off. lots of large soft towels. turn handlebar and crank arms/pedals such that you can close the hatch without crushing anything. it's do able. i ride a 56cm colnago. if your bike is bigger, may not fit.

I did it with my Boxster.

You will need to remove both wheels. Put the frame in the passenger seat and the wheels in the hatchback.

Bring a towel to protect the seats.

I fit my 59 inch road frame in the back of my old 3.2 once. The bike rack made for the cayman looks pretty kool, wouldn't want it inside.

Any racers here?

race XC mt bike in college. long ago.

if you do use the bike rack for porsche, just get the cross bars, dont get the bike trays. use yakima or thule (far far far better than porsche trays) and drill a hole in the tray, bolt to cross bar.

Oh, bikes! I'm a fat master's swimmer (ie:when the intervals get hard, do what you want, you are a master!) who tries an occasional triathlon. Ride a Seven with Campy Chorus. Got it when they were less expensive than they are now, about the same as a trek 5200/ultegra 5-6 years ago. Best single purchase I ever made for myself (yes, even better than C4S - that's #3, behind an old Martin 12-string at #2).

Not really unless you put the bike on the seat .

I'm an avid cyclist and I'd suggest mounting a roof rack on it when you want to take bikes. I'm thinking of getting a rack for mine.

I'm considering it. It'd be a 100% street car for me; my daily-driver S4 was hit by a red-light-runner earlier this week, and I'm considering collecting the insurance check, selling the Audi as-is, and getting something else.

Chicos: thanks for the roof rack idea; I hadn't thought of that. Might be worthwhile.

you will like cayman for daily use i am sure. just get the porsche cross bar and thule/yakima tray and you be set.

I stand corrected. That may make the cayman more useable than the 911, I can't visualize a bike in the the 911.

I am certain a bike will fit in a modern 911. I put my mountain bike in my 1983 911SC several years ago. Just take off both wheels, and set the frame behind the front seats. Snug, but no problem. The modern car is a lot bigger than my SC was, so I would imagine it would be easier.

you can also stuff a bike in 996.
i have a maverick medium. pull off both wheels and seat post, wrap it up in blacket, lower the seat back of passenger seat, move the bike around, slowly you can get it in there. i have done so many times.
