Looking at the pictures from the track, it appears that you could use more tire pressure - the tires look like they were really rolling over.

My brother and I went to the Porsche Experience Center in LA last summer and drove 718s. We shared an instructor. It was really fun and he was very helpful.
I might look into getting an instructor after I’ve done a couple track days in the car.

Im picking up a used set of Apex SM-10 with RS4s this week. That will give me a better foundation to work on. On my GTI Ttyey liked to be around 33psi hot.

I picked up a used set of Apex Racing SM-10 wheels in 18x9 and 18x10 yesterday. They came with Hankook RS4 tires in 245/275 40/18. The wheels are in great shape. The tires have a few track days on them and should be good for 1-2 more. I'm looking forward to seeing what this car can do on a decent set of tires.

Congrats on the car and great mods you've done so far! Good call going with the SRF fluid and avoiding the pillow ***** up front. A bunch of us, including me, moved up after several VW/Audi vehicles. How do you like the R4 pads on the track?

Thanks Zach. So far it's been fun.
I really liked the R4 pads on my GTI. I'll have to reserve judgement on these pads on the cayman until I get on track with some decent tires. On the GTI I could just jam the pedal and the car would slow down in a hurry. On the cayman they felt good but not as grabby as I was used to on the GTI. I also had a couple instances of ice pedal but I think it was because of the 5 year old MPSS tires. Towards the end of the day I started braking a little earlier and a little lighter at teh end of the main straight and then I could feel the pedal vibrate like it was into ABS. It's definitely more subtle than it was in the GTI.

I had my first failure last week. We went away for a few days for July 4th. When we got back I was itching to drive the Cayman but it wouldn't start. I got it jumped and drove it for a while. I stopped at the HW store and immediately restarted it. So far so good. I went inside and came back about 15 minutes later and the car wouldn't start again. Wa wa waaaa. Luckily Costco had the battery in stock and my son was able to give me a jump so I could drive it home. The only thing resembling a date code said I5. If that actually was a date code that would translate to September 2015. I think it was time.

I also purchased a Carnewal GT modded muffler for the car and installed it last night. It wasn't hard, but getting the mufflers assembled and set to the correct width was a bit of a PITA. I wish I had measured the original assembly's width before I took it apart. A couple hours later I had it installed and took it for a drive. At lower rpms it really doesn't sound any different than the stock exhaust. At higher throttle or above 5k rpm it opens up a bit. The exhaust note is deeper and louder, but not too loud. Perfect for a daily driver.

I really enjoyed the Carnewal GT exhaust, it gives the stock sound the extra oomf!
Also shameless plug , check out my DIY if you do your own maintenance. I didn't include some of my mods because I didn't take detailed photos before but can help if needed (swap the following headers, exhaust, shift cables, seats, and programming ECU).

Great looking car. I also have a '11 base.
I would get a second opinion on the GT3 lca. For a track car they are great, for a daily you will be wearing the inside treads pretty quickly. The lowest neg camber I could get was -2 when I had them on my car. That was with all the shims out. I was trying for -1.5 or so.
With my stock lca I can only get -.7 so the next step for me will be camber plates.
Have Fun!

We took the Cayman on a 185 mile drive yesterday. Hwy 152 to 1 to 9 to Skyline Blvd. Took a break at Alice's. Headed to 92 to Half Moon Bay. Stopped for lunch and then took 1 all the way back to Watsonville and 152 back home. It was a beautiful day and other than a short stretch on 92 it was traffic free.
In other news I'm signed up for a HDPE on July 30th at Laguna Seca. This will be the first track day with the Apex wheels and Hankook RS-4s. I ran a set of RS-4s on my GTI and really liked them.
