Upgrade time...

I was having issues with the clutch pedal starting to stick, so I figured the slave or Clutch master was on the way out. Since the slave is a lot easier to remove with the transmission pulled I decided just to do the clutch and some other upgrades since I was only about 10 bolts from removing it anyway, glad I did. I was shocked to find the wear on the flywheel that I had with no symptoms at all, over 35mm play side to side with no spring back, and the throw out bearing was severely grooved. For something I had no issues at all with I had no indication anything was wrong it was interesting, the car has 62,000 miles.

I modified the shift linkage to take out the play, made my own connecting link eliminating the rubber/plastic, added Numeric Cables and the billet short shifter I've had laying around. The feel is night and day difference, worth every penny. New Sachs clutch, flywheel, slave, clutch master, rear seal and all the normal replace while out stuff, Motul gear box fluid and Motul RBF600 Brake fluid. I even threw on some Tarett end links and new sway bar bushings while it was out.. Fabbed some tools as well, aka Engine support.

Was going to post a bunch of photos but don't see that option anymore...hmmm

Thanks for the report. I am right behind you. I just installed the function first cable ends, which tighten things a bit. Factory shifter is a sloppy mess. I am deciding which one to change it to. I have a clutch in my near future, and it looks like a fairly easy install.
I am glad to see people work on and mod these cars.

Thanks for the inspiration

Rich

I am at 104K miles on my 06 S and this is in my very near future. Shifter feel is very loose and clutch is original. I am assuming I will notice a very big difference when all is said and done.
