Would you buy this Cayman S?
I've been eyeballing an '07 Cayman S lately. Just shy of 115,000 miles. Asking a bit less than 19k.
Carfax seems to be getting more and more detailed in their reporting. This car's got a laundry list of maintenance. I'll list the major stuff... splatttered around that I didn't list is various oil changes, light bulb replacements, etc
Seems to have had a ton of work recently done by European Auto Tech in San Ramon, CA. Older stuff done by Porsche of Livermore and Michael Stead Porsche.
Stuff in bold is mostly my thoughts and internal questions...)
The car seems to be in good shape. Some wear on the silver surfaces in the interior. Seats good. Of course, I would get a PPI.
Assume a PPI comes back "ok", given the list of stuff below, would you buy this car? If yes or no, why? Excessive issues? Average issues?

No. The headliner is common. The dealer replaced the water pump on my 07 at 41,125 miles a few weeks ago. Only $1,200! The car you are looking at looks like it was maintained, the calipers are red so it probably wasn't tracked. It just has too many miles. Friend bought a 99 Boxster last summer with 120k for cheap. Dealer just replaced the clutch, flywheel, etc., and rear shocks. Dealer did secondary air pump when he got it. He has about $13k into the car plus what he paid for it. He can probably sell it for $8k with the hardtop (yes dealers are expensive, not much more than an Indy, and sometimes life gets in the way of doing own wrenching). If one thing goes wrong on that car you are in it for $25k. I could probably get $27k for my 07 Cayman S with 41k miles if I find the right buyer.

Looks like a potential maintenance nightmare in the making. That battery thing would really worry me. There are base Caymans, even 2009+ with better motors and less mileage for another $10-15K. I’d keep looking.
