FYI: AutoZone Duralast tie rods are actually TRW OEM parts
I found out I supposedly had play in one of my inner tie rods, so I went out and sourced new parts. Pelican listed the TRW units as OEM at half the price of Porsche parts so I grabbed the parts.
After I looked at the job in the Projects book, I realized I was being foolish not replacing the outers (tie rod ends) also. Since wanted to do the job onthe weekend, I couldn't wait for shipping. I ended up finding a set in stock at only one local Autozone but they were the generic Duralast parts, which were even cheaper than the TRWs. I was pleasantly surprised to open the Duralast box to find a factory sealed TRW part inside. Just thought you all might want to know you can get decent parts at pretty low prices right at your local parts store if you look. Of course, I think I removed perfectly good tie rods so the whole project was a waste of my time but that's for another thread. |
Wow! Great information! So it was actually the Porsche part with Porsche packaging, inside the Duralast box!?

What is this "project book" you speak of?

$31 vs $150 for the same parts sounds good to me. |
