sigh. I hope everyone involved is OK. I will never understand the need to burn out at a C&C.

Hope everyone here sees this and teaches their children, you don't run out and buy a 400hp race car as your first sports car, you start in something simple and learn to drive... Think of it like a bike, you don't go out and buy a Ducati race bike if you haven't been riding for a long time... trouble is, lots of people do just this. These people give us a bad name. Now Monday when I get to work, people will say... Did you see the guy wreck his Spyder at the Cars & Coffee? Everyone with fast and special Porsches isn't some inexperienced clod...

The fact that it was a 981 Spyder is what shocked me the most.

"Accident"? a better thread title would be "A$$hat in Boise, Idaho". I am a Boxster Spyder owner and it is my opinion, that if this person is a member here, BAN HIM! This person will be trying to sell his slightly damage Spyder soon. . .
I don't have a lot of experience , but have attended DFWs C&C event ( first Saturday/month) seems pretty well managed with several patrol cars strategically stationed at the exit. I have met the officers walking the event and they are class act car guys. I, for one, am relieved they are there reminding attendees to not be stupid and dangerous while exiting the event.
Oh, and hoping for the best for injured participants.

Just saw the link on Drudge- hope to God he isn't on rennlist...
Every time I'm at a C&C some idiot has to tear out trying to prove he's the next Senna- usually it is a Lambo or a Ferrari so he isn't even dealing with a clutch!!
Somebody destroyed the windshield and flew over the car so we could be dealing with some serious injuries...
(if it IS a rennlist member, you can be assured he would NEVER admit it)

A Spyder? Who the f#@K does this?
And on second thought, most likely someone who is feeling very very foolish at this moment. Let's hope all injured are healing up and there's nothing too serious.

Good Video here as I did not see one in the first post. Very scary seeing it from this view.

Surprised to see the age of the driver. I expected a much younger idiot but you can't fix stupid no matter how many years on our planet.

In that video it looks like he was trying to catch and pass the white convertible on his left but instead lost it to the right into the curb and crowd. To black sheep Spyder, we are all only responsible for our own character, anyone who tries to stain a group of individuals based on the actions of some is painting with too broad a brush.

Awful. I can't bear to watch videos like this. Regardless of what transpired here, I just don't understand why people don't show more restraint driving in close proximity to people at events like this. I'm actually surprised things like this don't happen more often, given how many close call videos there are out there. So many people have no feel for throttle control and traction.

This person posting on rennlist gives him no association to me or anyone here. This person owning a Spyder also gives him no association to any individual here. The situation is unfortunate regardless for the injuries and for the wrecked Spyder (I don't want this to turn into a value thread). I also don't think we should judge too harshly, I've done my share of dumb things in cars, and have been lucky no one was around to watch and that I was lucky with all other relevant circumstances that I never had an accident.. but I can relate the ego inflating situation where you think people are watching and you do something while thinking with your "other" brain. There is a reason women tend to not get into situations like this, they don't have their "other" brain hanging between their legs goading them on.. they do other kinds of stuff.
Anyway, good ramble. Back to my beer and lurking.
