981 Spyder clutch engagement whistle?
Does any one else get a very short, muted 1 second "low whistle" when engaging the clutch ? I have noticed it occasionally -- especially after some spirited driving -- but couldn't get it to repeat for the service guy (naturally).

I don't hear anything when engaging the clutch. The PSE is always open though...
The slave cylinder introduces a slight delay in clutch engagement to reduce load on the gear box.

replying to my own thread to see if anyone else is experiencing it. It is a quick, low toned "who!" (kind of like a shy owl --- stop laughing) that happens when depressing the clutch pedal after driving the car for about 20 minutes.

Nothing here either. Try letting go of the gas completely and then depress the clutch before engaging gear. If too much gas is going in while depressing clutch you are going to get a lot of engine spin (kind of freewheeling) and that may be what generates the sound. Just a guess though.

Burning Brakes
If I had to guess I would say clutch throwout bearing. If that's bad it'll make a rattle or "whoooo" noise when you depress the clutch pedal with a spinning clutch.
Google "throwout bearing noise" and see if that matches your symptoms.

I have a BGTS rather than a Spyder, but in the last few weeks I've received the occasional chirp. It once did it every time on the way home from work. I was wondering if my shoe was wet and squeaking against the clutch pedal, but it has happened on dry days too.
