a Spyder a Z06 and a wet Laguna Seca racetrack.
So I took the 987.2 Spyder out today and had a blast with it, even though the track was wet all day. I am new to the rear/mid engine P Cars, but not new to tracking cars and the Spyder did not disappoint! I was able to run sub 1:49 laps by days end, so that is pretty good with 2 rivers running through the track today. My personal best out here is 1:41XX in a 2014 Camaro 1LE and I now have no doubt the spyder will get there pretty easily. My front camera was coated in dirt/mud, but I have this rear facing one that is pretty cool as it shows the Corvette Z06 thinking he is faster than the Spyder....He got away with it for 1.5 laps until my tires warmed up. Check it out, it's a great view and sound and more importantly, it shows how great these cars are in ANY conditions! Enjoy and PLEASE post of your comments!

1:41 on stock tires is certainly doable, but given that only randy pobst has done it (caymanR), I wouldn't say that it can easily be done.
3 years ago I ran 1:41 on NT01
My buddy ran 1:38.9 using hankook z214s
Nice to see people are still tracking spyders. I miss mine.

Prior to this I had never seen backward camera footage of Laguna Seca. It definitely gives you a different perspective and makes you realize just how crazy the elevation changes are on this track, particularly as you descend through Corkscrew. I've only done parade laps here at low speeds so very jealous of your track time. Thanks for sharing.

It was a blast, even though it was wet.....Glad the Trofeo's had not gotten here yet! Tires and brakes (carbotech) should make this a fun track day car. Now I need to find a place to safely spin it a few times, so I can see where the limits really are.
As far as the z06 "taking it easy" here is a message I received in my Camaro5 forum last night:
"Pleasure meeting you, man! You're definitely fast. My buddy had the red 997.2 GT3 and said he had run with you at quite few track days in the camaro and could not believe how fast that spyder was today
How often do you go out? I'm itching to learn how to drive this car and am finding that it isn't nearly as forgiving as my last car (E90 M3). You have any tips? Any way we can arrange a ride along or something next time?"
I know I am new here, but I am not new here ^^^^^^

Awesome video!
I look forward to seeing how fast you can get around the track once you have had more time behind the wheel!

Thanks Marine! I have many, many 1000's of laps at Laguna in Camaros of all types and 27 in the Spyder :-) much more to come! One thing that did take me by surprise was how much more "planted" a 4000lb camaro feels through turn one vs the Spyder, I was carrying about 7mph MORE (112 vs 119) in the Pcar though. That is all due to how easy it is to carry speed through turn 11 in this car. This is going to be fun!
