Default New Multifunction Sport Steering Wheel in an 981?

I have a 2014 Boxster base with a Multifunction steering wheel. It's actually not that bad and I have gotten used to it. I was planning to replace it with a sport steering wheel, but today, I saw a 2017 911 Turbo with a multifunction sport steering wheel. You think thI s could this be retrofitted in an 981 with all the dials and buttons operational. They are the exact buttons and dials on my steering wheel.

News from 991-land is that the wheel will work but the buttons don't. Was looking into the same thing myself. Am now thinking of sacrificing multifunction to get the new wheel - those paddles feel very good indeed!

You would think that it should work since they are exactly the same buttons and the wiring connections should be the same too. I guess it is the regular sport wheel which now looks plain but still very nice!

I wonder if changing to the .2 multifunction brain would enable the controls. Anyone have access to the part numbers to verify they are different for 991.1 vs 991.2?
I have been wanting to do the change from my sport wheel, but add wheel, airbag and module...almost $3k.
I suppose I could get roughly half of that back of that back if I sold my wheel and airbag.

I'd be very interested to learn this too.
