Default Spyder exhaust valve question

Wondering what other people's experience with the Spyder's PSE is. It seems to me that even with PSE off, the exhaust still opens at about 4,000rpm, so that above 4k the PSE button makes no difference. This is not the case in the 991.

I'm wondering a) whether this is normal and b) whether there might be any way to change it. I love the way the Spyder sounds, but it would be nice to have quiet mode stay quiet (as in it be possible to drive the car fast but quietly, rather than quiet, quiet, quiet OhJ*susF***ingChr**t, which is what it does at the moment).

Any input appreciated!

OK ignore me. Have been out and done some 'research'. Seems what the exhaust valve does depends on both revs and throttle position. If one floors it with PSE off, loud mode smoothly activates, but one can get the revs up on partial throttle and have it stay quiet.

Crisis over.

What a splendid, splendid car it is.
