I picked up my R51 Cayman S last week.....
I picked up my R51 engined Cayman S from Flat 6 Innovations last week.......and I thought my 3.8 was mean!!!!!!! The more time I spend with this thing the more I like it. This thing revs like NO other car I've driven. Throttle response is instant. It just screams for RPM. After they flash it. I bet it will give a GT4 a run for its money and if not for aerodynamics it would probably be a 200 mph car. Now for all the suspension parts I have stacked up. Can't say enough about the guys down at Flat 6 Innovations.....another mission accomplished. Now let's blur some dotted lines.

The R51 Track Performer Plus is an engine combination that was designed to create power in a much different way than other engine combinations of similar displacement. The engine doesn't just have an altered design, it is not a conventional combination, as it uses a shorter stroke coupled to the biggest bore ever fitted to an M96/ 97 engine to create the displacement. I wanted something different, something that would make the hair on the back of my neck stand up when I hit the throttle. What I needed was the R51, and Jake met my goals.

This particular engine has yet to be tuned. With the factory tune the engine has made over 320 at the rear wheels.
After the engine is broken in completely, it will be tuned. 350-380 at the wheels is a broad range, but it will end up somewhere there, depending upon how its tuned. We typically compromise some of the top end HP for better manners on the street, and a flatter torque curve.
What matters with this engine is where the power is made. Its a unique combo.

Yes, we work with the base engines as well.. The costs of building these engines bigger is the same as a larger engine, making more power. We can build 3.0 and 3.3 liter engines from these with no problem.
